About the launch
1Password for Agents lets personal AI agents sign into websites and finish approved tasks without receiving or storing the passwords, secrets, or one-time codes those tasks require. When an agent reaches a sign-in form, it verifies its identity to 1Password with a unique digital key. The person sees which credential is requested and why, approves or denies the request on their own device, and 1Password fills the form directly so the agent never takes possession of the secret. The company is building the platform with Muse from Meta, Anthropic's Claude Duet, OpenAI's ChatGPT Work and dots, Grok Bot from SpaceX Super Intelligence, and Town's Townie assistant. Muse and Grok Bot are rolling out over the coming days. Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work, dots, and Townie are listed as coming soon. Instinct, Browserbase, Browser Use, Dana, KERNEL, Perplexity, Ramp, Tomo, and Wajo are working on integrations as well. The feature is included at no extra cost for Individual and Family accounts on 1Password.com. Accounts on 1Password.eu or 1Password.ca are not supported yet, and the safeguards differ by partner integration. The launch tracks a shift in what people ask agents to do. Planning trips, managing recurring bills, and preparing expense reports all sit inside existing accounts, and pasting a password into a prompt can leave a copy the user no longer controls. Browser-saved passwords often cannot complete the login for the agent at all. 1Password, the Toronto identity security company founded in 2005 by Dave and Sara Teare and Roustem and Natalia Karimov, keeps those logins in one vault. A password is updated once, and connected agents can keep using the current login without standing access to the rest of the vault.
