Beltic is building a verification layer for AI agent transactions, giving merchants, payment providers, financial institutions, and card networks a way to confirm which agent is making a request, who stands behind it, and whether a given action is authorized. The San Francisco startup lets businesses decide what AI agents can do on their websites and systems , framing the problem as "know your agent" (KYA), the agentic equivalent of "know your customer" (KYC) . The platform verifies both the agent and the transaction in real time and is designed to work across any protocol or payment rail.
The launch marks Beltic's emergence from stealth with $7.3 million in Seed funding led by Norwest, with participation from Restive Ventures, Oxford Seed Fund, and Collide Capital, who also led a $1.5 million pre-seed round that included Latitud Ventures, Positive Ventures, and other notable angels , bringing total funding to roughly $8.8M. The timing matters because agents are starting to initiate purchases and account actions on behalf of users, and the controls built to screen humans do not translate cleanly to software that can transact thousands of times per second. Beltic is also spearheading verification for secure agent-to-agent transactions , where one agent delegates work to another and trust assumptions reset at each handoff.
The founding team pairs identity, payments, and data backgrounds. Isha Bhatnagar, CEO, spent six years at Coinbase building the identity and onboarding infrastructure behind 50 million-plus users and its first institutional clients . Co-founder Mike Allan previously founded Atar (acquired by Porto Seguro, one of the largest insurance companies in LatAm), a banking-as-a-service provider that scaled across Brazil's payments and core banking systems , and CTO Farhan Afsahi co-founded Verifiet, which Beltic acquired in 2025, giving the company a global entity data infrastructure platform spanning global jurisdictions and more than 500 million entities . Beltic is currently working with design partners in agentic commerce and payments to shape how these verification standards get adopted.

The framing in that tweet is the clearest articulation of the agent-identity problem I've seen. Most people are still arguing about MCP schemas while the actual trust layer is wide open.

Fine, agents can authenticate. Who eats the chargeback when the agent buys 400 units of the wrong SKU at 3am?

Cute pitch but every merchant I know currently handles this with a single if-statement blocking all bot user agents. Convince me the market is bigger than six Shopify stores.

Where are the docs. I want to see the verification handshake, rate limits per agent identity, and whether revocation is push or poll before I get excited.

The thumbnail is doing a lot of heavy lifting with that gradient. Kerning on the wordmark is tight in a good way, but the drop shadow under 'Beltic' is one notch too soft.

Interesting. Would want to see whether this is per-transaction pricing or seats, because the retention story looks very different depending on which.

Nice launch. One thing I'd add to the roadmap: a reputation score for agents so merchants can set risk thresholds instead of binary allow/deny.

Been trying to reach the team all week for a piece on agent commerce infra. Happy to wait my turn, but a quick DM would be appreciated.

Verifiable agent identity is literally a DID use case and nobody wants to say it out loud. There's a token in here somewhere whether the team likes it or not.

Procurement question before anything else: SOC2 status, SSO on the dashboard, and do you support SCIM for provisioning agent credentials across our tenants?
