A launch day checklist for X runs from 48 hours before you post to 48 hours after. Line up your network and creators at T-48h, lock the plan at T-24h, post on a weekday morning Pacific time, choreograph the first 60 minutes, work the replies all day, then follow up on every lead for two days.

A finished video is maybe 30% of a launch. The other 70% is everything around it. Every tip below comes from a launch The Launch Video Company ran, or from our directory of 1,172 X launches.

What should be on a launch day checklist?

A launch day checklist should give every person a job in each block from T-48h to T+48h, not only at the moment you post.

Step 1 of 7 · Before launch

T-48h: Who do you need to line up before launch?

Line up the founder's own network first, then the creators.

How we did it for

AgentCloak

2.2M views

Peter DMed every contact individually over the two days before launch. Each was personal and asked for a quote post and a comment. At 9:48 on launch day he messaged us:

Peter Yared, AgentCloak founder, 9:48 on launch day

Introducing AgentCloak: Use any AI without sharing your real data. Chinese AI services, ChatGPT, Claude, doesn't matter.

Peter Yared @peteryared · Sep 18, 2026

AgentCloak's launch post, 7am PT on a Friday.

For Clodo, a YC startup, we ran the network as its own channel:

1

Media kit: a separate media kit for each investor, with the go-live time, angle and draft copy in their voice

2

Invites: a Luma event for investors and customers, and a separate invite for friends and family

3

Actions: exact actions: on X, a quote post, a comment and a bookmark. On LinkedIn, the link sent to two or three people in DMs.

Our rule from Clodo

40 warm people given a precise action at a precise time will out-convert most paid amplification.

Pick creators by who your buyers follow. For AgentCloak, we looked at which influencers the execs at Peter's target enterprises follow. For HydraDB, every influencer was verified for a 33%+ US audience.

ρ = 0.68

In The Launch Video Company's data from 1,172 X launches, distribution was the strongest predictor of 1M views (ρ = 0.68). See our data on what predicts a 1M-view launch on X.

Step 2 of 7 · Before launch

What to do 24 hours before a product launch

Twenty-four hours out, check who else is launching that day and get everyone on one call.

How we did it for

Enrich Labs

3.6M+ views

Tuesday 7–9am PT is the default launch window, so we mapped that week's launch calendar and pulled the Helena launch to Monday 7am. We ran a 90-minute call the night before. None of that week's other launches cleared 3M views. Helena went past 3.6M.

Step 3 of 7 · Before launch

T-2h: What should you check right before you post?

Two hours out, lock the hook, the link and the press timing, so the only thing left is posting.

Mave

The post opened with "We've raised $2.1M to fix your focus," then added proof. We timed Dhawal's tweet to go live a couple of hours after Mave's TechCrunch story, so press was already out.

For Clodo, we didn't tag the company's own handle in the launch post. A reader who taps the brand account lands on a profile and forgets what they were doing. We also asked for lower-third captions and a thumbnail matched to the first frame, because most people watch on mute.

Specs and hooks are in our 2026 X launch video strategy guide.

Step 4 of 7 · Launch day

T-0: When should you post your launch on X?

Post on a weekday morning, between 6am and noon Pacific.

In TLVC's data from 1,172 X launches, posts that went out between 6 and 9am PT had the highest median views (280K). Posts from 9am to noon had the best 1M+ rate (25%). After 3pm PT, the median fell to 109K.

Post from the founder. Merge's launch went out from Shensi's account, which had under 8,000 followers, and reached 3.67M views.

Step 5 of 7 · Launch day

What to do in the first hour after launch on X

In the first hour, the people who know the founder engage first, and creators come in after them.

X judges a post on engagement velocity in roughly its first 60 minutes.

Step 6 of 7 · Launch day

T+2h to T+6h: How do you keep a launch alive after the first wave?

Keep someone in the replies, and have a second push ready if views stall.

How we did it for

Merge

At 7:16am, OpenRouter announced its $113M Series B. By 9:32am the post was stalling at 2M views. We had creators use #merge and tag Shensi, had influencers engage the big replies, and sent the team the best comments to like. It hit 3M by 11:12am and kept climbing to 3.67M.

How it played out for

HydraDB

Trending 24h

Don't panic about pushback. About two hours into HydraDB's launch, a competitor in AI memory started public callouts. Every "this is wrong because…" fed engagement velocity, and HydraDB stayed trending for 24 hours.

Step 7 of 7 · After launch

What to do after launching on X: T+24h and T+48h

After launch day, keep the war room open and measure what the views turned into.

How we did it for

Mave

2.5M+ next day

We ran a Slack war room with the Mave team from before launch through the day after. Creators carried the first four hours, then Dhawal's own network came in, including @lennysan. The next day the post was past 2.5M views.

01

Follow up on every inbound.

For Clodo, reposts kept resurfacing the post for days, and demos kept coming from accounts nobody had targeted.

02

Expect the unexpected.

One TLVC client got a text from the founder of Uber at 2am after their launch. General Atlantic and KKR reached out, and an investor wired money from a DM (Subah on X).

03

Don't judge by engagement rate.

In our data, 1M+ launches got 12.1 likes per 10K views, against 43.2 for the rest.

04

Decide on paid.

Two days after launch, Merge asked to put paid promotion behind the video on X and LinkedIn.

Methodology

The numbers come from the launchvideo.com Global Launch Directory: 1,172 X launches, March 30 to October 27, 2026. Posting hour comes from each post's status ID, in Pacific time. Distribution scores are TLVC ratings out of 5 (1,021 launches). Medians throughout. Correlation, not causation.

Hour-by-hour advice comes from our case studies: HydraDB · Enrich Labs · Merge · Clodo · Mave · AgentCloak.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

A launch day checklist is a timed plan for the 48 hours before and after you post a launch. It gives each person a job at each checkpoint: network outreach at T-48h, a war-room call at T-24h, a choreographed first hour and follow-up through T+48h.

Check who else is launching that day, run a war-room call and keep the launch on a weekday. In TLVC's data from 1,172 X launches, weekend launches had a median of 35K views, against 272K on Tuesdays.

Post on a weekday between 6am and noon PT. In TLVC's data, 6–9am PT launches had the highest median views (280K), and 9am–noon launches had the best 1M+ rate (25%). Launches after 3pm PT hit 1M only 13% of the time.

Get the people who know the founder engaging first, then bring in creators. For Enrich Labs, investors quote-tweeted at +5 minutes, founder friends commented at +15, and Tier 1 creators came in at +30.

Keep someone in the replies, push a second wave if views stall, and follow up with every inbound lead for at least two days. For Clodo, demos kept coming for days from accounts nobody had targeted.

Post a launch video from the founder's account on a weekday morning, with the founder's network and tiered creators lined up for the first hour. In TLVC's data from 1,172 X launches, 80% of launches with a 5/5 distribution score crossed 1M views, against 2% at 1/5.

The Launch Video Company (launchvideo.com, by Atomik Growth) makes launch videos and makes sure they go viral. That covers creative ideation, scripting, production and animation, a creator list built for your ICP, and guaranteed millions of views on launch day on X and LinkedIn. We also run the Global Launch Directory of X launches.

Use the "Book a call" button at the top of this page. We can create your launch video end to end, activate creators on your launch day, or both.
