Last updated: Nov 4, 2026

Launch on X (Twitter) for raw reach: in The Launch Video Company's directory of 1,264 X launches, the median post got 234K views. Use Product Hunt for early adopters and LinkedIn for named B2B buyers. Run X and LinkedIn together, then give Product Hunt its own day.

What does the launch data say?

X has the highest reach ceiling of the three platforms, and 23.7% of the 1,264 launches in our directory crossed 1M views. Distribution predicted views far better than audience size. Our distribution score correlated with views at ρ 0.69, against 0.30 for follower count.

Which platform gets a startup launch the most reach?

X gets the most reach on launch day: in our directory, the median X launch post got 234K views. Product Hunt and LinkedIn don't publish per-launch views. Neither gives one post X's ceiling, but each reaches buyers that X can miss.

Which platform should you launch on for your goal?

Pick the platform by goal, not habit: X for reach, investors and press, and Product Hunt for early adopters and a permanent listing. LinkedIn is for named B2B buyers and industries outside tech. Most venture-backed launches need X first, with the other two in support.

Why does X get the most reach for a launch?

X recommends posts to people who don't follow you, so a launch can travel far past its own account. In our directory, follower count correlated only weakly with views (ρ 0.30). Our distribution score, which tracks creator and network push, correlated much more strongly (ρ 0.69).

X's open-sourced recommendation code mixes in-network and out-of-network posts in the For You feed. That is how small accounts break out.

Is Product Hunt still worth it in 2026?

Yes, for early adopters, feedback and a permanent listing, but not for mass reach. Each launch competes on one daily leaderboard, and Product Hunt's editors decide what gets featured. Budget weeks of community work beforehand, then a full Pacific day in the comments.

Should a B2B startup launch on LinkedIn instead of X?

Launch on LinkedIn alongside X, from the founder's profile, because personal profiles out-reach Company Pages. LinkedIn suits named enterprise buyers and industries outside tech. X still carries launch-day reach: per our directory, CData's enterprise AI launch crossed 1M views there from 520 followers.

LinkedIn has more than 1.4 billion members, per LinkedIn. Its feed weighs hundreds of signals, per its help center. It also recommends posts from outside your network when they aren't overly promotional.

Richard van der Blom's Algorithm Insights Report 2025 analyzed 1.8M LinkedIn posts. Per published summaries, Company Pages average 1–2% organic reach. Personal profiles get about 40% more reach than Company Pages.

Frequently asked questions

For reach, X. In The Launch Video Company's directory of 1,264 X launches, the median post got 234K views and 23.7% crossed 1M. Product Hunt is better for early adopters, feedback and a permanent product page. Many startups use both, on different days.

In The Launch Video Company's directory of 1,264 X launch posts from Mar 30 to Nov 2, 2026, the median was 234K views. 299 launches crossed 1M views, 33 crossed 10M and 460 stayed under 100K.

Less than you'd think. In our directory, follower count correlated weakly with views (ρ 0.30), while our distribution score correlated at 0.69. Colare's pre-seed post reached 1.41M views from an account with 744 followers.

A weekday morning, Pacific time. In our directory, Tuesday launches had the highest median at 282K views, and weekend launches had 33K. All 25 launches we ran went out between 6:59am and 11:05am PT.

Every Product Hunt launch goes live at 12:01am Pacific and competes on that day's leaderboard. Editors decide which launches get featured on the homepage. After launch day, each product keeps a permanent page on Product Hunt.

Your personal profile. Richard van der Blom's study of 1.8M LinkedIn posts found Company Pages average 1–2% organic reach. Personal profiles got about 40% more reach than Company Pages, so post from the founder and have the page reshare.

You can, but it's hard to staff. Product Hunt needs comment coverage from 12:01am PT, and an X launch needs a live war room through the morning. We usually run X and LinkedIn together and give Product Hunt its own day.
