What Asymptote Labs launched

We’re betting our $5.5M seed round that the next leap in AI coding won’t come from OpenAI or Anthropic. It’ll come from a new feedback loop that learns from you. Introducing Beacon: open-source, self-improving memory for coding agents. Your sessions capture how you debug and https://t.co/KnIn728JkX

About the launch
Beacon gives coding agents a shared record of work a developer has already done. It captures session history across Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, OpenCode, and more than 20 other harnesses, then turns reviewed workflows, corrections, and debugging patterns into knowledge later agents can retrieve through MCP or Agent Skills. Asymptote Labs released that loop on October 20, 2026, alongside a $5.5 million seed round led by Tower Research Ventures, the venture arm of Tower Research Capital, for teams that lose debugging paths and repo conventions when a session ends or the tool changes. The open-source collector is local-first and MIT-licensed. Prompts, tool calls, commands, file edits, and outcomes stay on the machine unless the user explicitly forwards them. Memory writes are a separate, opt-in step. Selected traces can be scored and drafted into lessons, but nothing becomes reusable project memory until a person approves it. An agent in another harness can then recall those approved lessons before the next task. Co-founders Justin D'Souza and Shukan Shah, CEO and CTO, previously built detection systems at Doppel, where D'Souza led machine learning infrastructure and Shah led SOC automation. Beacon is free and open source, and the New York company sells a paid platform on the same activity record that can block risky agent actions before they happen. Lytical Ventures, 1984 Ventures, and South Park Commons joined the round, which the company says will fund engineering, product development, hiring, and go-to-market.
