Physical AI for Asset-Heavy Operations
What Tractian launched

Congrats to @igmarinelli, Gabriel, and @Tractian (W21) on their $130M Series D at a $1.4B valuation! Tractian builds sensors and AI that predict when industrial machines will fail, before they do. Most industrial equipment has no instrumentation at all, so factories find out https://t.co/eevWLl1LkU

About the launch
Tractian builds wireless sensors and software that tell industrial maintenance teams when a machine is heading toward failure, and what to do about it. Most plant equipment still has no instrumentation, so operators often learn about a problem only after something breaks. Tractian retrofits those machines with sensors that capture vibration, ultrasound, and temperature, then uses models trained on industrial failure data to return a diagnosis, a likely root cause, and a recommended fix. The buyers are reliability teams in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, utilities, and data centers, where a stoppage can scrap a production run or miss a service target. The company announced a $130 million Series D on October 22, 2026, led by Sapphire Ventures and co-led by M&G's Catalyst, at a $1.4 billion valuation. Y Combinator, which backed Tractian in its Winter 2021 batch, participated again, along with General Catalyst, Bosch Ventures, Monashees, and others. More than 2,000 critical facilities already use the technology, including sites at Eli Lilly, McKesson, Whirlpool, Coca-Cola, Cummins, and Embraer. The raise lands as new data center construction and older industrial assets are both raising the cost of unplanned downtime, and the company is using the capital to extend monitoring from individual failure alerts to the condition of the machines an operation depends on. Co-founders Igor Marinelli, Gabriel Lameirinhas, and Leonardo Vieira started Tractian in 2019. Marinelli, the CEO, has described the origin as watching his father work as a maintenance technician at a paper mill with tools that showed up too late. The company is headquartered in Atlanta and employs more than 700 people, with offices in São Paulo, Monterrey, and Poland.
