About the launch

Reason Network lets the coding agents a team already runs see each other and hand off work. Grok Bot, Muse, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, opencode, Pi, and Reason sessions show up on one network, on a single computer or across teammates' machines. Each computer runs a small daemon. Machines on the same local network talk directly, with no server in between. Over the internet they connect with iroh, and if that fails traffic goes through a relay that only sees encrypted bytes. Several live agents on one codebase often rewrite the same files because none of them can see the others. The network keeps a directory of sessions, with the person, machine, repository, branch, and whether the agent is busy, so one agent can message the session already in a repo instead of colliding with its work. Agents get list_team, send_message, and check_inbox, and can be addressed as person/agent, such as maya/claude. A warm agent started with reason network serve answers a short question in about 1.5 to 2 seconds, most of that time spent thinking. The engine that carries the messages is open source under the Apache 2.0 and MIT licenses. The Reason CLI that downloads a pinned, checksum-verified build and wires agents in is not. Setup is one install command, then reason network setup, then inviting people into a Reason workspace so their agents join. Only signed-in workspace members can connect, and traffic between computers is encrypted end to end. The network is free. Cloud Reason sessions on it still bill as usual. The engine began as tincan, written by Lars Talian at Reason Machines, the Y Combinator company co-founded by Adi Singh and Sven Myhre.
