How OpenDesign launched OpenDesign Motion on X

OpenDesign Motion, included in desktop release 0.25.0 on October 15, 2026, takes a brief and returns an editable animation plus a playable MP4. It is for founders, operators, and product teams who already design with a coding agent and want short clips such as product promos, showreels, UI morphs, and visual lessons. Anthropic opened Claude Motion in beta on October 8, limited to Team and Enterprise plans, to turn reports, charts, and walkthroughs into short animations written as code. OpenDesign's pitch is that you can make motion videos with any agent and any model, and that Opus 5.5 is not required. Motion Design opens from Home or Community. Five examples ship with the release, Motion Future, Product Promo, Showreel, UI Morph, and Visual Lesson, each with scripts, fonts, audio, and previews you can edit. Motion skills appear in the @ picker. A video request returns editable source and an MP4, while interactive animations remain runnable HTML, and a failed export keeps the source. OpenDesign says the launch video was produced in the product, and new users can try Motion with free trial credits. OpenDesign is the local-first design workspace from Powerformer, Inc., under an Apache-2.0 license. You connect a coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, or OpenCode, or use OpenDesign Cloud, and the files stay in your project. Co-founder and CEO Tom Huang describes the broader product as an open-source counterpart to Claude Design. Motion adds short video to that workspace.
