About the launch
Index Network is a private discovery protocol for people who already use a personal agent and need another person to get something done. You or your agent declare an intent, whether that is a hire, a collaborator, a funder, or a conversation, and other agents negotiate in the background on whether the wants match, the timing is right, and the meeting is worth both people's time. This public launch follows invite-only use and rests on a simple claim from the team: agents can now carry the searching and negotiating that used to sit in feeds. Negotiation is bilateral and turn-based. Each agent advocates for its own user by accepting, countering, questioning, or rejecting, so weak matches drop before they cost attention. A successful exchange becomes an opportunity with the reasoning attached, and the protocol does not connect two people unless both explicitly accept. At Edge Esmeralda, where Index handled introductions among a popup village of personal agents, a published recap reports 9,688 possible connections, 572 surfaced opportunities, and 147 accepted conversations. Co-founders Seref Yarar and Seren Sandikci are opening the protocol to a wider set of users. The code is open source under the MIT license, with a desktop app, CLI, HTTP API, and MCP, so an existing agent such as Hermes can hold a seat. Communities can run their own network and set which intents are discoverable. The launch post says the first people in are already hiring founding engineers, raising seed rounds, and writing speculative fiction.
