About the launch
Extend is launching Verify, an API that detects document fraud so agents can check a file before they parse it, extract fields, or take a downstream action. It is aimed at engineering teams that already use Extend to turn PDFs, scans, and other files into structured data for production pipelines. The company frames the launch around AI-generated fakes that people can no longer reliably distinguish from authentic files, including fully synthetic documents, localized edits down to a single modified character, overlays and in-painting from Photoshop, PDF editors, and coding agents, and digital changes made after a document was signed. Verify returns a risk level, bounding boxes, and an explanation for each flagged signal. The company says the system uses vision models trained on more than a million pages of fake documents, fraud analysis agents, and more than 100 digital forensic checks on every page, and that internal evaluations detected over 96 percent of AI-generated and tampered documents. Kushal Byatnal, co-founder and CEO, announced the API as available now. He and Eli Badgio founded Extend in New York in 2023 through Y Combinator's Winter batch.
