Extend is an AI-native document processing platform that turns PDFs, scans, and other unstructured files into structured, production-ready data for technical teams , and today's launch adds a new tier called LightParse aimed at high-volume ingestion workloads. Pricing starts at $0.00625 per page with additional volume discounts, which the company positions as up to 70 percent cheaper than competing parsers. It is meant for developers who need to pick a specific point on the cost, accuracy, and latency curve rather than paying premium prices for every page in a pipeline. LightParse runs on smaller, more efficient versions of Extend's parsing models and targets the bulk of what production pipelines actually handle, meaning text, forms, and tables. On the third-party Databricks OfficeQA Pro agent benchmark it placed second only to Extend's own higher-end performance parser, and on the company's open-source RealDocBench it was the most accurate non-agentic parser at over 90 percent per-field accuracy. Extend says early customers in legal AI and real estate, sectors with heavy document flows, have cut their OCR spend roughly in half after migrating from other providers. The launch matters because parsing has become the price-sensitive layer beneath extraction and agent workflows, and teams increasingly want a cheaper default without swapping vendors when a document needs more careful handling. Extend was co-founded by CEO Kushal Byatnal and CTO Eli Badgio , came out of Y Combinator's Winter 2023 batch , and raised $17 million in seed and Series A funding led by Innovation Endeavors earlier this year. LightParse is live in production and available to try on real documents today.

the pricing table screenshot is doing more heavy lifting than the tweet copy. put that first next time and watch the CTR.

ok wait, SOTA on OfficeQA Pro AND cheaper? one of those is usually a lie in launch posts, respect if both hold up.

tweet needed one more line about what Light Parse actually does differently vs the default tier. the how is missing.

cool but what happens on a 400 page scanned PDF from 1998 with coffee stains. that's the real benchmark.

$0.00625 per page is a very specific number, someone's finance team fought hard for that extra decimal.

the name Light Parse is doing a lot. is there gonna be a Dark Parse tier for the documents that have seen things.

genuine question: what's the p99 latency at volume? cheap per page means nothing if I'm queueing for 40 seconds a doc.

portfolio companies drowning in invoice parsing are gonna be all over this. sending to three founders right now.
