About the launch
Context.dev gives developers one API for the live web data their AI agents and products need. Search, scrape, crawl, batch jobs, page monitors, document parsing, and research all sit behind the same key, returning Markdown, HTML, screenshots, structured JSON, or answers with source URLs. The San Francisco company, in Y Combinator's Summer 2026 batch, announced a $9 million seed round led by General Catalyst, with Orange Collective and Robinhood Ventures, because agents can already reason and take actions but still lack a reliable read on pages, docs, and other sources that change. A caller sends a URL, domain, query, or file. Rendering, proxy retries, and extraction stay on Context.dev's side. Official SDKs cover TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Go, and PHP, and the API is also available over MCP for coding agents. The company says more than 800 customers already use it. Its Y Combinator profile names Mintlify, Super, Vizzy, and Klarna among them. Founder and CEO Yahia Bakour started the company in 2025. He previously led engineering at Sunrun, worked at Amazon, and co-founded StockAlarm, which was acquired. Alongside page extraction, the API returns brand profiles, people data, and company news, so a team can collect page content and entity records from one vendor rather than maintaining browsers, proxies, and several data providers.
