About the launch
Context.dev has launched a people search API so agents and products can find professionals from a description of who they need. A natural language query covers role, employer, location, skills, or experience, and each request returns up to 10 people with profile links, current role, employer, location, experience, skills, and schools. Country and a minimum number of years of experience can be required on top of the query. Results paginate with a cursor, a page that returns matches costs 10 credits, and a search with no matches is free. The endpoint is meant for go-to-market and hiring workflows on the same web data API teams already use to scrape pages, search the web, and look up companies. Founder Yahia Bakour pointed to decision makers to sell to, founders to build with, and engineers to hire. It follows Blue Pages, the company search Context.dev opened two days earlier over an index of more than 80 million companies, so one API key can move from a company query to the people at those companies. People enrichment, which turns an email, social URL, or name plus company context into a scored profile, was already available. Search covers the case where the agent does not already have an identifier to enrich. Bakour is founder and CEO, based in San Francisco. He started the company as Brand.dev, is in Y Combinator's Summer 2026 batch, and previously led engineering at Sunrun, was a tech lead on Amazon's retail checkout platform, and co-founded StockAlarm.io, which was acquired.
