About the launch

React Bits is a free, open source library of animated React components and backgrounds that developers copy into their own projects and edit as source. The 2.0 launch, from creator David Haz, rebuilds a catalog with about 49,200 GitHub stars. Components now render more cleanly, move more smoothly, and start from presets you can tune on the demo before you take the code. The library lists 216 components across text animations, cursor and hover effects, cards and galleries, small interface details, and section backgrounds. 155 of them were rebuilt for this release, with new presets and cleaner motion, alongside new pieces such as a holographic trading card and a 3D circular carousel. Each component ships in four flavors, JavaScript or TypeScript, styled with plain CSS or Tailwind. You add one with the shadcn CLI or jsrepo, or paste the files by hand. The same registry connects to the shadcn MCP server, so agents including Claude Code and Cursor can find and add components directly. The browser tools were rebuilt from scratch as well. Background Studio puts every animated background in one place, starts from a preset, and exports code, a high resolution still, or a looping MP4 or WebM. Shape Magic designs logo marks from shapes, patterns, text, or your own SVG, then applies chrome, glass, or neon materials and exports SVG, PNG, favicons, video, or React. Texture Lab runs photos, video, or a camera feed through 160 one-click styles and more than 75 stackable effects. The code stays free for personal and commercial products under an MIT license with a Commons Clause, which bars selling or redistributing the components themselves.
