What Factory launched

Today, @humanlayer_dev is joining Factory. HumanLayer is a multiplayer coding agent IDE and cloud for running agents locally or in the background. Together, with @dexhorthy and @0xblacklight we're building the future of software factories for entire engineering teams. https://t.co/y2O3qugX2M

About the launch
HumanLayer is a shared workspace where engineering teams run coding agents on a laptop or on background workers and work the same task together. Sessions, plans, and live diffs stay in one place, so teammates can write prompts side by side, watch changes as they land, and redirect an agent before a large pull request shows up. On November 4, 2026, HumanLayer joined Factory, the San Francisco company founded in 2023 by Matan Grinberg and Eno Reyes. Factory builds enterprise agents, called Droids, that plan, build, and validate software inside a customer's infrastructure, policies, and approved models. Co-founders Dex Horthy and Kyle Mistele built HumanLayer for teams stuck on hard problems in large codebases, where a generic coding agent leaves planning and review to one person. The product ships as separate pieces. Teams can bring their own compute, environment, and harness, including Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and Pi, or use HumanLayer's desktop app, local daemon, and cloud workers, with the same interface on web, desktop, and phone. Horthy and Mistele are joining Factory to carry over multiplayer tasks, shared work on plans and design docs, and live session diff streaming. The hosted HumanLayer service stays up for a transition of at least 30 days. Users can export their data, move to Factory, or self-host the open-source codebase, and paying customers are being refunded for the last several months. Factory says the product has hundreds of daily active users.
