Corgi is rolling out Liquor Liability Coverage, a commercial insurance product aimed at organizations that serve alcohol as part of their operations. Corgi's program is designed for eligible veterans' and fraternal lodges operating licensed on-premises bars , and it is built to sit alongside an existing general liability policy to address the distinct risks that come with pouring drinks on premises. According to the launch, the coverage can extend to the organization's officers, employees, and members, and it may also respond to certain bring-your-own-beverage scenarios when the policy allows. The pitch behind this launch is turnaround time. Getting bound for liquor liability has traditionally meant weeks of paperwork and back-and-forth with brokers, which is a real friction point for venues and clubs that need proof of coverage to legally operate. CEO Nico Laqua framed the release as an effort to give organizations a faster, more straightforward way to get the coverage they need without the traditional runaround , positioning it as one more admitted product on top of Corgi's underwriting stack rather than a referral to a third party. Corgi is a full-stack insurance carrier that underwrites and issues policies directly rather than acting as a broker , an approach the company has been extending category by category since going through Y Combinator. The company was founded in 2024 in San Francisco by Nico Laqua and Emily Yuan , and liquor liability slots into a growing lineup of commercial lines the team is bringing onto its own paper, making this launch most relevant to founders and operators running hospitality-adjacent venues, private clubs, and lodges who have historically struggled to place this class of risk quickly.

Liquor liability is the perfect wedge into hospitality. Every bar owner I know has a horror story about their broker ghosting them for two weeks on a COI.

The landing page copy is clean but 'Speed of Compute' is doing a lot of heavy lifting for an insurance product. Compute doesn't underwrite a dive bar in Tampa.

ok wait, you shipped a new coverage line without turning the tweet into a 14-post thread with a manifesto? refreshing.

Is there an API to bind these policies programmatically or is this still a portal flow? Asking for a POS company that would love to embed this at checkout.

naive question from someone who has never bought this: does liquor liability cover the bartender over-serving, or the venue for letting them? the video kind of glosses over which party is protected.

Tagline rewrite on the house: 'Pour freely. We've got the paperwork.' You're welcome.

The launch video shows a quote in like 4 seconds. I'd love to see the actual underwriting questions because 'instant' usually means 'we'll re-quote you after you pay.'
