Almanac Health is a clinical AI platform for physicians that prepares patient charts, surfaces relevant history, and drafts structured notes so doctors spend less time on documentation and more time with patients. The platform is designed to work within existing electronic health record systems, governed by institutional controls, and grounded in peer-reviewed evidence. According to the launch video, it works overnight to bring forward new results, recent notes, and treatment changes before each visit, asks for clarification, always requests permission before taking action, and reconciles data across systems into a complete account of the patient's day at discharge.
The company is founded by Cyril Zakka, MD, a physician-researcher who conducted machine learning research at Stanford, where he developed the first retrieval-augmented generation system for clinical medicine, an approach to grounding AI in trusted medical knowledge that has since been widely adopted across clinical AI. That work, published in NEJM AI, became one of the journal's most-cited papers and established the foundational approach used by most clinical evidence AI products today. He subsequently led health AI at Hugging Face, the largest open-source AI platform, before founding Almanac Health.
This launch matters because the market is crowded with unverified clinical AI, and Almanac is positioning itself around research validation and trust rather than raw capability. The platform is currently undergoing rigorous clinical validation in academic medical center settings , and the company has paired the launch with a $10 million seed round led by F-Prime, with participation from General Catalyst and Lightspeed Venture Partners, following an earlier pre-seed led by General Catalyst . For founders, operators, and investors watching healthcare AI, it is a useful reference point for how a clinician-led team is trying to earn deployment inside health systems on evidentiary rather than promotional terms.

Was already telling my LPs about this before the tweet went live. Physicians getting their evenings back is the kind of moat you can't A/B test into existence.

The landing page loads in under a second and the demo doesn't have that AI-sludge voiceover. Whoever gatekept the launch assets, thank you.

Any public API or is this a closed EHR-integration play? Asking because 'diffusion at the speed of trust' sounds great until I hit an undocumented rate limit at 2am.

Cool launch but this is arguably the last clinical tool built without an agent layer. In six months a resident is going to ask it to draft the whole discharge summary and expect it to just work.

Curious about the pricing model here. Per-seat for physicians gets ugly fast in hospital procurement, and per-encounter reads like a compliance headache.

The demo felt suspiciously smooth. Is that live inference or a lovingly pre-recorded happy path with the network cable unplugged?

Would love to chat for a piece I'm working on about clinical AI adoption. Totally understand if timing is tight, happy to keep it off the record until you're ready.

One more thing for the roadmap: a physician-facing inbox that triages patient messages before they hit the chart. You'll thank me when v3 ships.
