Runway has released an official plugin that brings its generative image and video models directly into DaVinci Resolve Studio, aimed at editors and colorists who want to prompt, restyle, and upscale footage without exporting to a browser and re-importing the result. Runway's generative AI tools are now available in DaVinci Resolve Studio, streamlining video editing workflows with advanced AI-powered capabilities. The panel lets users generate clips, park the playhead on existing footage to restyle it, and pull outputs straight into the Media Pool and timeline. The launch matters because it closes a workflow gap that has slowed adoption of generative tools inside professional post pipelines. On September 23, 2026, Runway shipped an official DaVinci Resolve plugin that lets you generate images and video, restyle the clip under the playhead with Aleph 2.0, and import every result straight into the Media Pool, and onto the timeline, without bouncing through a browser tab. The launch video, a mock swordfight scene grumbling about washed-out, low-contrast looks, points at the restyling use case editors and colorists are most likely to reach for first. The plugin requires DaVinci Resolve Studio 19 or later on macOS or Windows , and access sits behind Runway's Standard plan or above. Runway was co-founded in December 2018 by Cristóbal Valenzuela, Anastasis Germanidis, and Alejandro Matamala , with Valenzuela as CEO. The Resolve plugin extends a strategy of embedding Runway inside the tools professional editors already use, alongside existing integrations with Adobe Premiere and After Effects, and signals continued push toward serving working post-production teams rather than only web-based creators.

Editors have been begging for this instead of exporting proxies to a browser tab and praying. Actually useful integration for once.

Tagline rewrite, on the house: 'Generate on the timeline you already love.' Yours sounds like a keynote, mine sounds like a button.

The tweet is almost too calm for what this unlocks. Six words and a link, no manifesto, respect.

Question from someone new here: does it work on the free version of Resolve or only Studio? Feel like that answer changes everything.

Hot take: this is the move that finally pulls colorists into the generative conversation instead of scaring them off.

Every generative video launch this month has been a standalone webapp. Shipping inside someone else's timeline is a different level of confidence.

Curious what the plugin architecture looks like under the hood and whether third parties can extend it. Docs page is thin so far.

Before my post team touches this I need to know about data residency and whether footage on the timeline gets used for training. Enterprise pilots die on that question.

Reminds me of when one of our portfolio companies embedded into Figma instead of fighting it. Distribution through the tool your users already open beats another dashboard every time.

Fellow founder in the video AI space here, this is a clean shot. Slightly annoyed, mostly impressed.
