Video model built on living brain cells, from 0.5 cents per second
What Biological Computing Company launched

today, we introduce a little mischief to the world. for four years, we’ve been brewing real brain cells on electrodes to understand how they compute. now, we’ve turned those discoveries into a video model anyone can use. from 0.5¢ a second, mischief 1 is at least 5x faster than https://t.co/TsGwNKFQwf

About the launch
The Biological Computing Co. has opened mischief 1 on fal and OpenRouter, an image-to-video model built on the open-weight Wan 2.2. The company says it matches the base model's quality while generating video at least five times faster, priced at half a cent per second, and that it is the lowest-priced image-to-video model on both marketplaces. A five-second clip costs 2.5 cents, which is aimed at creators and developers who want to run extra takes, compare variants, and test hooks before spending a production budget. The release went live on October 30, five weeks after TBC announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services, with an AWS Marketplace listing still to follow. The neurons stay in the lab. TBC grows living neural cultures on electrode arrays, stimulates them with information, and measures how they respond. Those measurements become a software layer that runs on standard AI hardware. The company says the layer adds less than 0.1% to the base model's parameter count. The speed claim comes from TBC's own tests, and the company has not published independent benchmarks. Co-founders Alex Ksendzovsky (CEO) and Jon Pomeraniec (COO) are neurosurgeons who spent four years growing neurons on electrodes before putting a model in public hands. Video is the first commercial application. TBC says it is already applying the same process to newer open-weight video models, with language models and physical AI still in development. Earlier in October, TIME named the underlying neuron-derived technology to its Best Inventions of 2026 list.
