Rive is launching a command-line tool and a companion text format called RML (Rive Markup Language) that let a coding agent build Rive files directly from the terminal. The workflow is aimed at developers and designers who already work with agents like Claude Code or Cursor and want to generate interactive UI, motion, and game scenes without opening the Rive Editor. The CLI builds .riv files for apps and games and .rev files that open in the Rive Editor, with a live preview running locally as work progresses.
Pairing the CLI with an agent lets you describe a graphic, have the agent write the scene in RML, and steer the result as it takes shape. The CLI parses RML to compile a local preview and can build .riv assets from it, while giving the agent ways to confirm a scene compiles, inspect what it contains, and look up any type in the Rive object model. The demo video shown at launch was itself produced by agents working alongside a person inside the CLI, which is the point of the release: putting Rive authoring on the same surface where AI coding tools already operate.
Rive was founded by identical twin brothers Guido and Luigi Rosso, with Guido on design and Luigi on development , and the engine is already used in production by Spotify Wrapped and Duolingo , with output that runs natively on mobile, desktop, web, consoles, TVs, and vehicles . For teams that have adopted agent-driven coding but treat animation and interactive graphics as a separate manual step, the CLI closes that gap.

The moment the agent tweaked the easing curve on that spring animation, my jaw did a little easeOutBack of its own. Great pacing on the reveal too, no wasted seconds.

RML sounds suspiciously like every design tool eventually admitting that a text format was the answer all along. Curious how diffable it actually is on a real PR.

Building an adjacent agent-driven animation thing and honestly seeing RML makes me want to steal the format idea and pretend I thought of it first. Respect.

Is the CLI streaming state to the agent or is it round-tripping the full RML on every edit? Asking because my Claude bill has feelings.

First 8 seconds of the video are perfect, you show the terminal AND the canvas moving together. Every other AI coding demo hides one of the two and hopes we don't notice.

The interactive experience engine. The. Bold article usage for a category that still has no clear winner, but I kinda respect the swagger.
