Inspo is an MCP server that gives AI coding agents a library of real production websites to reference when generating UI. It plugs into Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode through a single `npx inspo-mcp install` command, then lets the agent query a curated archive of 832 production sites for visual and structural inspiration during a coding session. The pitch to founders and design-conscious builders is straightforward, since coding agents can scaffold anything but tend to default to generic layouts, and Inspo hands them a concrete reference set to study instead.
The server bundles three things behind one endpoint. There are 2,320 hand-curated captures, each with a desktop and mobile pair, with palettes, type ramps, and tech fingerprints extracted , alongside 68 canonical reference components, each demonstrating a named macrostructure or archetype . Every captured site also ships with a DESIGN.md extracted from its DOM, covering semantic palette roles, type ramp by role, spacing scale, CSS variables, and container width , which is the format an agent can actually parse and apply.
The project is open source under MIT, owned and operated by Together AI, with the hosted instance free for everyone and no tiers or paywall , and it is self-hostable on Neon, Vercel, and Fly.io if you want your own instance. It was built by Hassan El Mghari (@nutlope), who leads developer relations at Together AI and is known for shipping open-source AI apps like roomGPT and BlinkShot. The launch matters right now because MCP tooling for coding agents is expanding quickly on the code side while design context remains thin, and Inspo is one of the first attempts to give agents a queryable reference layer of real sites rather than screenshots pulled ad hoc.

So my agent is going to copy the same 12 Linear-lookalike landing pages everyone else copies? Cool cool cool.

The install being a single npx line is the actual flex here. Every other MCP setup reads like assembling IKEA furniture in the dark.

Curious how the 800 sites got picked. Is there a submission process or is it vibes-based curation?

ok wait, does it actually rank by design quality or just by whoever has the biggest hero section?

Watched the demo three times to check if the agent output was live or pre-baked. Jury's still out.

Hot take: design inspiration for agents is the missing piece nobody wanted to admit was missing. Everything they ship looks like a 2013 Bootstrap template.

Just got comfortable with Copilot last month and now there's a design MCP for three agents I've never opened. I'll circle back in 2027.

The tweet video pacing is tight but you buried the actual result at second 22. Move the money shot to the first 4 seconds and watch the plays double.

The thumbnail could use more contrast on the wordmark but the overall vibe slaps. Kerning on the 'o' is a hair loose.

Naive question: what happens if two of the 800 sites contradict each other stylistically? Does the agent just pick one or blend them into a Frankenstein?

Finally something for my Claude Code workflow that isn't another wrapper around a wrapper. Been asking for this since roughly forever.

800 beautiful websites according to whom exactly. I need to see the taste committee credentials before I trust this thing near my repo.

Building something adjacent and I have to admit the MCP angle is smart. Everyone's shipping Figma plugins while you went straight to the agent layer.
