HumanLayer is a coding agent IDE built for engineering teams working in complex codebases, organizing agent sessions, plan artifacts, git worktrees, and code diffs into shared task workspaces where multiple people and multiple agents can work in parallel. This launch adds live multiplayer prompting, letting teammates co-author a single prompt to an agent in real time, with each person able to type in the same input box and watch the other's changes as they happen. It extends the collaboration model the team shipped a few weeks earlier, which allowed sending a prompt into a colleague's running session, by making the act of writing a prompt itself a shared surface. In the demo, a collaborator is added to a session with an optional time limit, then both people work through the agent together, mixing typed prompts with inline comments on a release notes doc that the agent picks up and acts on before opening a pull request. The feature runs on whatever machine the session already uses, so there is no requirement to move work into a hosted cloud agent to collaborate. The company was founded by Dex Horthy, co-founder and chief executive of HumanLayer , and started as human-in-the-loop infrastructure for AI agents before growing into an AI coding IDE and collaboration platform for engineering teams working in complex codebases . This release matters for teams that have moved past single-developer agent use and are trying to coordinate multiple engineers and multiple agents against the same task without losing the ability to jump into a session and steer it together.

Google Docs for prompts is a real unlock, but I want to see the cursor collision when two people edit the same token at the same time. That's the moment truth or chaos happens.

Cool, but is the demo live or edited? I've seen too many multiplayer demos where the second cursor is a keynote animation.

Tagline rewrite, on the house: 'Pair program the prompt, not just the code.' You can Venmo me later.

The best prompts, like the best sentences, are usually written twice.

So this is like Etherpad but for yelling at Claude? I'm in, I guess.

Been quietly bullish on Dex since the send-prompt-to-colleague drop. Multiplayer prompting is the wedge people will underrate for six months.

Curious about the OSS story here and whether the collab layer is something we can self-host. Docs page for this yet or still cooking?

How big is the team behind humanlayer? The shipping cadence is suspicious in the best way.

One more thing for the roadmap: comment threads on specific prompt tokens. If we're going full Docs, give me the suggestion mode too.

Every AI startup discovering that the actual product is a collaboration tool with an LLM taped to it. The bicycle keeps getting reinvented.

The tweet cuts off mid-sentence at 'wherever you' and I refuse to click the link out of spite. Reveals should reveal.

Any chance you'd share what enterprise teams have been asking for that pushed you toward multiplayer? Happy to chat off the record.
