Cardboard is an agentic AI video editor that runs in the browser and on Mac, aimed at creators, growth teams, and anyone who sits on raw footage they would rather not cut by hand. Describe your edit, and Cardboard's AI cuts, captions, reframes, and composes your video, in your browser or on your Mac. This launch introduces Recipes, a library of pre-built edit styles that users can apply to their own clips instead of starting from a prompt or a blank timeline. Each recipe is a real Cardboard edit you can start from: pick one, add your footage, and Cardboard makes it yours. The current catalog spans travel montages, vlogs, product showcases, festival aftermovies, and viral formats, with specific looks like Travel Collage, Mini Vlog, Orbital Screens, Card Breakout, Receipt Stop-Motion, Falling Through the Feed, a MrBeast-style challenge clip, and a laptop product film with dot-matrix captions. The pitch to a founder or marketer is simple, which is that you can land on a format that already works and swap in your own material rather than describing a style from scratch. Cardboard was built by Saksham Aggarwal and co-founder Ishan Sharma , and is part of Y Combinator's W26 batch . Recipes matters now because it reframes how most people will actually use an agentic editor day to day, since picking a reference edit is faster than writing a long prompt, and it lowers the barrier for teams shipping testimonials, ads, launch videos, and social cutdowns on a weekly cadence.

That jump cut at 0:04 is doing heavy lifting, I almost forgot you were pitching a product. Whoever edited the launch vid, raise their rate.

The thumbnail choice is wild, the logo gets eaten by the gradient. One more pass with a solid backdrop would've gone a long way.

Recipes is a cute framing but every AI video tool ships templates and calls them something cute. Prove the output doesn't look like the other seventeen I tried this month.

Is there an API for Recipes or is this a webapp-only thing? Would love to pipe my CMS into this and skip the dashboard entirely.

Telling people to stop learning a craft to sell them your product is a bold hook, respect the audacity of the tweet copy.

Impression curve on this tweet is suspicious, big spike then flatline. Either you got boosted or the algo really hated the second half.

We built something adjacent at a previous gig in 2019 and the hard part was never the templates, it was audio sync on anything over 60 seconds. Curious how you handle it.

Short-form video is cooked without agents orchestrating the whole pipeline. This is a lovely time capsule of pre-agent tooling.

Writing about creator tools, would love 10 minutes to chat about how Recipes was scoped and what you cut from v1. DMs open whenever.

Any thoughts on how user-uploaded footage is handled for training? Asking because every brand team is going to want that answer before they touch it.

Would be curious whether the recipe selection is a retrieval step or a classifier under the hood. The demo flows a little too smoothly to be pure prompt routing.
