AIR is an Israeli cybersecurity company building a real-time firewall purpose-built for AI agents, capable of discovering which agents are running inside a company, continuously vetting their skills and plugins, and blocking anything that looks like trouble. The product sits inline with an agent's runtime and focuses on what enters the agent's context window, screening skills, plugins, and MCP servers before untrusted instructions or compromised tools can steer the agent toward data theft, fraud, or unauthorized access. It is aimed at enterprise security teams that are moving from AI experimentation to production deployments and need visibility into which agents exist, what they can reach, and how third-party add-ons are influencing their decisions. The launch matters now because agent adoption is outrunning the controls around it. AIR's own research found over 17,800 public AI add-ons linked to untrusted external sources, collectively accounting for roughly 6.7 million installations , and the company identified cases of brand impersonation where AI skills masqueraded as products from well-known companies like Anthropic and OpenAI . Alongside the runtime firewall, AIR plans to offer a marketplace of pre-vetted, certified add-ons, essentially creating a curated app store for AI agent capabilities . AIR was founded in February 2026 by Yair Saban and Niv Hoffman, who met about a decade ago in the Israeli military and share backgrounds in offensive cybersecurity, enterprise infrastructure, and AI security research. Ryan Knisley, previously Chief Information Security Officer at The Walt Disney Company and Costco Wholesale, joined as Chief Strategy Officer. The company is emerging from stealth with a $50M round led by Sequoia Capital and Greenoaks, with participation from Swish Ventures, Netz, and angels including Yinon Costica of Wiz, Ofir Ehrlich of Eon, Varun Anand of Clay, Zach Frankel of Cognition, and Anne Neuberger.

Naming a security company AIR when your job is to filter what agents inhale is either genius or asking for a punchline. I'll allow it.

The bolded unicode font in the launch tweet is doing heavy lifting. Sequoia deserves regular bold at minimum.

Context firewall is a solid frame but I already see three startups about to shove 'firewall for agents' in their decks by Monday.

Before I forward this to security, SOC2 Type II? SAML SSO on day one or on the enterprise tier only? Asking for a very tired procurement team.

Every enterprise sec pitch this year is 'agents but safe.' At some point someone has to define what a rogue agent actually did to somebody.

Anyone on the founding team open to chatting with a staff sec eng leaving a big cloud shop? He's done agent red-teaming and is very much not on LinkedIn.

Tagline rewrite, no charge: 'AIR. Because your agents shouldn't inhale everything.' Venmo optional.

The launch thread buries the actual product screenshot under three paragraphs of manifesto. Show the console in tweet 2, save the belief system for tweet 6.

Genuinely curious how this is the last cohort of security tools built by humans typing. Two years from now the firewall will be pitching itself.
