Legora is an AI workspace for lawyers, covering contract review, legal research, drafting, and due diligence, built by Max Junestrand, Sigge Labor, and August Erséus in Stockholm in 2023 . The product sits inside a legal team's daily workflow through a Word add-in, a tabular document review system, an AI research assistant, and reusable Playbooks , and is aimed at firms handling recurring volumes of contracts, diligence, and research rather than one-off tasks.
This launch marks the company crossing $200M in ARR, with founder Max Junestrand noting that the jump from $1M to $100M took 18 months while the next $100M arrived in under six. He also reports 130,000 monthly lawyer users across 2,100 firms and legal teams in more than 80 countries, a scale that puts Legora among the most widely adopted AI tools inside the legal profession. Junestrand came to legal AI as an outsider, a former esports player and business school graduate who joined two technical co-founders in 2023 .
The context matters because the legal AI category is consolidating fast around a handful of platforms competing to become firm-wide infrastructure. Legora's angle is collaboration between lawyers and models inside shared matters, extended recently by Portal, which pushes firm playbooks, due diligence, drafting workflows, and automated research into the client relationship that has historically run through email . For founders, investors, and operators watching how vertical AI companies compound, the $200M milestone is a useful data point on how quickly adoption inside conservative professions can move once a workflow product lands.

The tweet cuts off mid-sentence right at 'Two things from this year I would not' and I need to know what you would not. This is worse than a Netflix cliffhanger.

18 months for the first $100M and under 6 for the next hundred is the kind of curve that makes CFOs nervous in a good way. Curious what the net retention looks like at 2,100 firms.

Serving 80 countries with legal AI means 80 jurisdictions worth of liability. Whoever runs your compliance team deserves equity refresh.

130k lawyers voluntarily using the same tool is the most surprising thing I've read all week. Herding them usually requires a subpoena.

Counterpoint, the lawyers I know would rather chew glass than share a doc in real time. Curious how you got the older partners past the 'just email me the Word file' phase.

Every legal AI demo I've seen conveniently avoids the messy part where a partner marks up the output in red pen. Would love to see the real workflow, not the sizzle reel.

Is there a public API for this or is it all in-app collab? Asking because 'collaborative' usually means someone hid the webhooks.

The flex of dropping ARR milestones and then getting truncated by Twitter is peak founder energy. Post the full thread you cowards.

Every quarter I say I'm three weeks from launching my own thing and Max just casually posts $200M. I'm going to log off and touch grass.

Growing from 1 to 100 in 18 months usually means the sales team is either magicians or in a lot of pain. Probably both.

Would love to know the impression to signup ratio on this tweet vs your last milestone post. Founders leave so much attribution data on the table.
