Vocci is an AI-powered note-taking ring built by Gyges Labs that captures spoken conversations and turns them into structured context for the AI assistants people already work in. Using Model Context Protocol, the ring automatically integrates generated transcripts, summaries, key moments, and meeting-level action items into tools like ChatGPT or Claude, giving users direct access to their real-world context inside the assistants where they already have established workflows. Users can also act on that context across connected productivity apps, such as creating a task in Notion, sending an email through Gmail, or adding an event to Calendar , which makes it relevant for founders, operators, and anyone whose day is mostly meetings.
This launch is specifically about the privacy design, framed by CEO JY Jia in the launch video. The argument is that most always-on capture devices, whether a pin, a pocket recorder, or a phone app, make asking for consent awkward because the hardware is hidden. Vocci is designed the opposite way, sitting visibly on the finger so it can be noticed and acknowledged during a handshake, turning the consent moment into a normal part of the conversation rather than a disclaimer bolted on later. On the data side, Vocci states it is GDPR, SOC 2, and ISO compliant, with encrypted storage kept inside the user's home country.
On the hardware, a five-meter pick-up range and up to eight hours of continuous recording let it capture full conversations without the user staying close to it or worrying about battery, and an IP67 rating covers everyday exposure to water and sweat. Recording starts with a double-click on the ring and runs hands-free, with a single-click to flag important moments. Vocci is developed by Gyges Labs, a wearable AI company with a background in optics, electronics, AI, and supply chain , and the same team served as the core technology partner behind Halliday Glasses in 2025 , which gives this ring a credible hardware lineage beyond a first-time launch.

The one thing every AI wearable founder dodges in their launch video is the 'why is your friend recording me' problem. JY actually leading with it is a choice I respect.

Watched the CEO clip twice. The pacing is calm in a way that makes you trust him, which is exactly the vibe you need when the topic is a mic on someone's chest.

Hey JY, would love to chat for a piece I'm working on about consent norms in ambient recording devices. DMs open, promise it's not a hit job.

Tweet copy is doing a lot of work but the Twitter video autoplay cuts off JY mid-sentence. Fix the trim, this is the whole launch.

Cool cool cool but is there a webhook when transcription finishes or do I have to poll like it's 2014. Also please tell me rate limits are per-device not per-account.

This might be the final AI wearable shipped without an agent layer on top. In six months nobody will care about the raw transcript, they'll care what the agent did with it.

Been watching this category for a while and Vocci is the first team where the founder video didn't make me physically cringe. That is the bar and it is embarrassingly low.

Genuinely curious how the 'people around you know' part works in practice. Is it a light, a chime, a little jingle? The video hints but doesn't show.

Consumer take: I want to see the first 60 seconds of unboxing to pairing. If that flow has more than two taps this whole positioning falls apart.

We prototyped basically this at a big co in 2019 and killed it over consent UX. If Vocci actually cracked the ambient disclosure pattern that's the whole moat.

Before my legal team lets a single one of these into a meeting room I need SOC2, SSO, data residency, and a very long conversation about who owns the transcripts.

'Privacy by design' is what every wearable says right up until the S3 bucket is public. Rooting for you to be the exception JY.

Are you hiring firmware? I know a brilliant ex-audio-DSP engineer in Stockholm who is very tired of headphone companies and would love a wearable that isn't earbuds.

Would be very based to have a $VOCCI token where holders get to vote on the recording indicator color. Just brainstorming.
