Polar Operator is an AI agent for direct to consumer commerce teams that lives inside Slack and answers questions about a brand's sales, marketing, and retention data in plain language. It is built by Polar Analytics, whose platform already centralizes Shopify, Meta, Google, Klaviyo, Amazon, TikTok and other ecommerce sources into a single modeled data stack , and it draws on the metric definitions those teams have already agreed to so that answers stay grounded rather than made up. The pitch of this launch is straightforward. Instead of pinging an analyst or opening a dashboard, an operator can ask a question in a channel and get a governed, first party answer back in seconds. The product sits on top of Polar's semantic layer and MCP endpoint, the same infrastructure the company uses to connect live ecommerce data to ChatGPT, Claude, Slack, Notion and other AI tools through one trusted layer . That is what the "doesn't hallucinate" claim in the launch tweet is pointing at. The agent is not reasoning over raw tables, it is reasoning over metrics the finance and growth teams have already signed off on, which is the piece most general purpose AI assistants get wrong when they touch commerce data. The timing matters because Polar Analytics raised a $9M Series A led with Point Nine joining the board , and the company has been moving from dashboards toward agent tooling for months, with co-founders David Dokes, previously growth lead at Turo, and Charbel Seif, previously a data scientist at Airbnb , pushing the roadmap in that direction. Polar Operator is the piece that turns their analytics foundation into something that actually acts on behalf of a commerce team rather than just reporting to it, which is where most DTC brands are trying to spend their AI budget right now.

The Slack-native angle is smart. Half the commerce ops folks I know already treat Slack as their BI dashboard by pasting screenshots at 2am.

The launch video pacing is tight but that voiceover sounds like it's selling a luxury SUV. Commerce ops leads want dry humor, not cinematic gravitas.

How does Operator actually push activations back out? Curious if it's writing to Klaviyo and Meta directly or just drafting for humans to approve.

Tagline rewrite, on the house: 'Your commerce data, now with a coworker.' You can Venmo me later.

'It starts with the data and definitions your team already trusts' is the actual killer line in this tweet. Everyone else is shipping agents that invent their own KPIs.

Would love a five minute call about the Operator roadmap for a piece I'm putting together. Nothing gotcha, just curious what 'foundations' means to you here.

Third commerce AI agent launch this month I've clocked. Polar's the only one leading with definitions instead of a chat window, which is at least a different opening move.

Are you hiring forward-deployed folks for this? Got a candidate coming out of a Shopify Plus agency who lives in Slack and speaks fluent attribution.

Building in adjacent territory (retention side) and this is a clean wedge. Slightly annoyed you got to 'operator' before we did.

Genuinely curious what grounding technique you're using to keep it tethered to the semantic layer. Retrieval over metric definitions, or something closer to constrained decoding?

Solo-ish founder brain: what's the smallest team that could have shipped this? The definitions-first approach feels like it took an entire data eng crew to make defensible.

Thumbnail is doing a lot of work with that gradient. The 'Operator' wordmark tracking is a touch loose though, tighten it two units and it stops feeling like a beta build.
