Narrative is an AI video editor where you describe the edit you want in plain words and it cuts your footage, builds the timeline, and hands back a finished draft you can still open and change. The launch matters because the team is demonstrating the workflow on itself: the announcement video was assembled end-to-end inside Narrative by prompting its agent, which is a concrete stress test for a product pitched at working editors rather than casual users. Under the hood, Narrative is aimed at people who deal with real post-production volume. It can add b-roll to the timeline intelligently for an interview based on the transcript, search terabytes of footage using natural language to find similar clips, pull selects and create stringouts for social media and long form edits, and perform batch iterations through a conversational chat window. Professionals at corporate post-production teams, wedding videographers, and sports teams already use Narrative to cut hours from their workflow , and the team has said video editing and clipping APIs for businesses are coming next. The company is part of Y Combinator's Fall 2025 batch, positioned by YC as a Cursor-style tool for professional video editors. It was built by Erik, Aryan, and Victor , with prior experience spanning computer vision research at Brown, software engineering research at UW, AI infrastructure at Apple, and marketing at Vectara. Aryan Sawhney, posting the launch, is the co-founder and CTO.

ok wait, the jump cut at 0:14 was actually clean. if the agent did that unprompted I owe someone a coffee.

every AI video editor launch video is suspiciously well edited. curious what the 47th prompt looked like before this one shipped.

the tweet copy is doing a lot of work with 'for the rest of us.' bold to invoke the ghost of 1984 Apple on a Tuesday.

the wordmark tracking on the site is too tight at the display size. also whoever picked that off-white background, thank you, my eyes are resting.

first-tap test: I hit the site, hunted for 'try it,' found a waitlist. onboarding grade so far is a polite C.

cute demo. what does week 4 retention look like when the novelty of 'prompt a cut' wears off and people want frame-accurate trims?

the editor is the last thing to be disrupted because the editor was never the bottleneck. taste was.

hot take: this kills CapCut for anyone over 25 who still thinks in terms of 'scenes' instead of trends.

already telling my portfolio founders to stop hand-editing their launch videos. Aryan, DMs open, we should talk before your inbox explodes.

anyone at Narrative hiring a founding designer who's shipped two consumer video apps? have a friend in Lisbon actively looking.

waiting for the moment they add on-chain provenance for AI-generated clips. c2pa is right there, someone spin up a token.

this is the final launch video anyone edits in Premiere. mark the date, screenshot the tweet.
