Instinct is a personal assistant reached by text or phone call, built to use a phone and a computer the same way a person does, for jobs like ordering groceries, booking a train, or sending flowers. Spear Street Technology, founded by Noah Shinn, a former research scientist at Sierra, operates the product, which has been invite-only. This launch, built with Stripe and Link, lets users fund a Link balance and set a limit on each purchase, so Instinct can spend inside those limits without access to a credit card and without asking for approval every time. Payments with Instinct have run through Link since August, when the user still approved each amount and card details stayed protected. The new balance is for purchases that should not wait on that step. The launch post points to tickets bought as soon as a presale opens, a size picked up when trail runners restock, and coffee beans reordered every other week. Link describes the same idea as concert tickets while the user is asleep, shoes when the price drops, and a shopping list placed from one prompt. Link balance is rolling out to Instinct users across the United States, with New York coming soon. Users ask their Instinct to set it up, and it sends a link to get started. Tempo says the balances are powered by stablecoins on its network.
