Hebbia makes an AI platform used by asset managers, investment banks, law firms, and corporate strategy teams to run research and due diligence across private documents, public filings, and market data. The company was founded in 2020 by George Sivulka and is backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Peter Thiel, and Index Ventures. Until now, that intelligence has lived primarily inside Hebbia's own interface, through products like Matrix and Max.
Headless Hebbia unbundles that stack. The launch introduces an API and an MCP server that let customer engineering teams pipe a firm's indexed knowledge, private files, filings, and structured financial data, into whatever surface their analysts and bankers already work in, whether that's an internal tool, a bespoke application, or a general purpose AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT. The pitch is that firms no longer have to choose between Hebbia's reasoning stack and the chat environments their teams default to.
The timing tracks with where enterprise AI is heading. As MCP becomes the default way to connect models to proprietary data, Hebbia is positioning its retrieval and multi-step reasoning layer as infrastructure that other agents call into, rather than a destination product. For founders and operators building in regulated verticals, it's a useful datapoint on how a vertical AI company extends its moat once customers start standardizing on agent frameworks they didn't build themselves.

Headless is the right call. Nobody wants another dashboard, they want the answer inside the Slack thread they're already ignoring.

Every enterprise AI launch promises 'your firm's knowledge, wherever.' Show me the eval on a messy 400-page credit agreement and we'll talk.

MCP server mentioned without ceremony. Respect. Half the launches this month treat MCP like they invented fire.

Pre-recorded or live? Because 'bespoke applications with customers' is doing a lot of load-bearing work in that sentence.

ok wait, so the moat is being the brain that other AI tools call? that's actually a spicy positioning flip.

Tagline rewrite, no charge: 'Your firm's memory, on tap.' Institutional Intelligence sounds like a Deloitte whitepaper.

The launch video pacing is weirdly calm for an agents launch. Nice break from the usual synthwave sizzle reel.

Naive question but how does permissioning work when the knowledge flows into ChatGPT or Claude? Does the firm's ACL travel with the context?

Headless Hebbia sounds like the villain in a Pixar short about compliance officers.

The thumbnail with the floating API blocks is clean but the type weight on 'Headless' is fighting the logo lockup. Tighten the leading and it sings.

Been watching this category since the first Hebbia demo. The pivot from app to platform is the move everyone talks about and almost nobody actually executes.

Already told three portcos to plug this in. The 'intelligence layer' pitch finally has receipts.

Any infra hires on the headless side? Got a platform eng ex-Databricks who's been circling enterprise RAG shops.

The best infrastructure is the kind you forget is there. This is aiming at forgettable in the good way.
