Flexport is a freight forwarder and supply chain platform used by more than 13,000 companies, and this launch opens its booking stack to AI agents. The centerpiece is a Model Context Protocol server that lets shippers connect Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or their own internal agents and make requests in plain language . An agent can track shipments, surface exceptions or customs holds, search rates on any lane, submit cargo details, book against negotiated rates, and return a booking ID and transit time without logging into the Flexport platform. Behind the server sits Flexport's own fleet of agents, which the company says process 21 million tasks a year , with guardrails set through a custom evaluation platform and every exception routed to a human expert . The release matters now because tariff policy keeps shifting and shippers are already piloting agents against their logistics data. Alongside the MCP server, Flexport extended its Customs Technology Suite with customer-defined audit rules that run against every entry in real time and flag issues to operations staff before filing , plus a new guided HTS classification tool that returns a recommended 10-digit code in seconds with linked CBP rulings, which users can send to a licensed Flexport broker for validation . Flexport Atlas, the company's map of global trade, now adds air, rail, and barge routing so users can compare every mode between two locations, along with an AI-curated disruption layer and per-container emissions estimates on ocean routes . The announcement was presented live on X by founder and CEO Ryan Petersen , who also highlighted an automated e-commerce fulfillment center outside Chicago where more than 350 robots bring inventory to workers and AI-powered translation in Japanese and French that brings the platform to 11 supported languages . For operators evaluating where AI actually touches freight today, this launch is a concrete look at agents booking real containers against negotiated rates rather than demo workflows.

9am Pacific keynote on a Tuesday for a freight company is a power move. Who hurt the morning stand-up crowd.

Every logistics company has been shipping 'AI' since GPT-3. What's actually new here besides the slide deck gradient.

The tweet copy is doing the absolute minimum and I respect it. No emoji, no thread, just 'watch me cook.'

If the livestream opens on a wide shot of an empty stage I'm closing the tab. Cold open with a port timelapse or go home.

First 10 seconds of that livestream better not be a founder adjusting his mic. Freight people have containers to move.

This is probably the last major logistics launch that won't be fully agent-driven. Next year the containers will negotiate their own tariffs.

'AI-powered logistics for the real world' is doing a lot of lifting. Try 'Freight that thinks before it ships.' Free of charge.

Cool demo, but is the agent actually calling carriers or is there a human in Manila clicking buttons behind a loading spinner.

Please tell me retention on these agent workflows isn't a one-week cliff. Logistics ops people churn faster than Snapchat teens.

Still waiting for someone to just build a nice dashboard with filters. We skipped straight from spreadsheets to agents and I never got my 2019 SaaS phase.
