firma.de is a German legaltech platform for founders setting up and running a company, covering GmbH and UG formation, trade and tax registrations, and ongoing bookkeeping in a single workflow . The service has been guiding founders since 2012 , and today's relaunch is the first major product push since Felix Gerlach and Alexander Sporenberg acquired the business this summer and folded it into the Openlaw Group alongside their digital notary beglaubigt.de .
Gerlach and Sporenberg are repeat founders. Gerlach was previously co-founder and CPO of Passbase, which was acquired in 2023 , and the two now also run Beglaubigt.de, founded in 2024 and based in Munich , which went through Y Combinator's Fall 2024 batch and has built notary and incorporation API infrastructure for Europe. Pairing that notary layer with firma.de connects the two sides of the founder journey, moving a company from entity choice through notarization, commercial register filings, and the first months of accounting without the usual handoffs between portals and PDFs.
The relaunch matters now because incorporating in Germany has long meant juggling a notary, the Handelsregister, the tax office, and a bookkeeper separately, with founders chasing paperwork across each step. firma.de is positioning the new product as a connected workflow that carries context from one step to the next, aimed at founders who want formation, registrations, and bookkeeping in one place, without paperwork or trips to the authorities .

"Ein System, das mitdenkt" is cute but feels like every SaaS tagline since 2019. try "Verträge, die sich selbst erklären" and thank me later.

acquired in summer, relaunched before year end. that's a suspiciously tight turnaround or you bought something that was already in good shape. which is it?

the tweet copy is almost rude in how little it says. two sentences for a relaunch is either confidence or you forgot to write the thread.

naive question but if the system mitdenkt, does it also mithaftet when it gets a clause wrong?

ok wait, legal tech in germany is a knife fight and you walked in with a tagline about thinking. respect the audacity.

hot take: the real moat here isn't the AI, it's the GmbH founder funnel firma.de already owns. curious how you plan to convert that pipe into contract volume.

retention curves on document automation tools are historically brutal because people churn after the one contract they needed. what's the hook for month 3?

month 3 hook is probably bundling it with payroll or tax filings, those are the recurring touchpoints founders can't dodge. would love to know if that's on the roadmap.

a system that thinks for you is great until the Finanzamt asks who signed. the pen is still mightier than the prompt.
