About the launch
Circleback captures meetings and turns them into speaker-labeled transcripts, notes, and assigned action items. Teams use it on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Slack huddles, and in person, and they can upload recordings they already have. Folders, released on October 30, 2026, are the company's response to a habit it says is now common: record everything, then leave most of those recordings unshared. The point of a folder is to get that context to the coworkers and agents who were not on the call. A folder groups related meetings and shares them with the people, teams, or workspace you add, including calls they were never invited to. You can add meetings by hand, or set rules that file them automatically when they finish, matching a tag, a word in the title, or a participant's email domain. Those rules can cover everyone in the folder or only specific people. Customer demos and calls can live in one folder the sales team can open. Anything not placed in a folder stays private to you and the people you have already shared it with. Privacy rules can keep a meeting out of folders no matter what the auto-add rules say. By default, meetings tagged 1:1, Personal, or Sensitive stay private. Folders are live in the app and in Circleback's API, MCP server, and CLI, so an agent can create a folder, share it, or add meetings. This replaces sharing meetings through automations, and existing share automations have been turned into folders that reach the same people. Circleback was founded in 2023 by Ali Haghani, previously an engineer at Stripe and Twitter, and Kevin Jacyna, previously a senior software engineer at Tableau. It is a San Francisco company from Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch.
