Circleback is an AI meeting notes tool that records, transcribes, and summarizes calls across Zoom, Google Meet, Slack huddles, Teams, and in-person meetings , then turns those conversations into structured notes and automated follow-ups like Linear tickets or Slack updates. This month's launch bundles three changes aimed squarely at teams evaluating notetakers or migrating off an incumbent: a free tier with unlimited meetings, a two-click importer that pulls recordings, transcripts, and notes from other apps, and a public API that exposes everything visible in the product to external tools and agents.
The free plan sits alongside new Pro, Business, and Enterprise tiers, which reshapes how the product competes against Fireflies, Otter, Granola, and Fathom, most of which cap meetings or transcription minutes at the free level. The import flow addresses one of the most cited reasons teams stall on switching notetakers, losing months of searchable meeting history, while the API opens the door for customers to build internal dashboards, CRM syncs, and agent workflows on top of their meeting data rather than relying only on Circleback's built-in automations.
Circleback was founded by Ali Haghani and Kevin Jacyna and went through Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch . Haghani, who posted the launch, framed it as the output of a team retreat in Northern California, and points users to circleback.ai/releases for the full changelog.

The ranch b-roll is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that video. I came for meeting notes and stayed for the horses.

"Unbelievably good meeting notes" is fine but you're sitting on "the meeting remembers so you don't have to." Free of charge, cash me outside.

Unlimited meetings on a free plan is a bold flex when your COGS is literally every syllable Karen says in standup.

API drop is the actual headline here. Everything else is marketing garnish.

Before I even look at the product: SOC2 Type II, SSO on which plan, and where does the audio actually live after transcription? Asking on behalf of a paranoid legal team.

Importing past meetings from other apps is sneaky good, that's the whole switching cost dissolved in one bullet point.

The tweet buries the API under two consumer bullets, feels like three different launches stapled together. Pick a protagonist.

Counterpoint: burying the API is correct, devs will find it and normies get the free plan hook.
