Chatbase Backstage is a new operations layer for teams running Chatbase's AI customer support agent, giving support leads and operators a single place to inspect what the agent is doing and change how it behaves. Backstage is described as a workspace to debug, inspect, and improve your AI agent, functioning as the control room for the agent , and the launch positions it as something you interact with by talking rather than clicking through configuration menus.
The pitch is that an operator can ask the agent, in plain English, what is driving support volume this week, then instruct it to change a response, ship a new Procedure, or adjust a workflow without touching a builder UI. That fits the broader Chatbase surface area, which spans chat, email, voice on phone lines, WhatsApp, Slack, Messenger, and Instagram , and integrations with helpdesks like Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias, Help Scout, Intercom, Zoho Desk, HubSpot and Salesforce, commerce tools Shopify and Stripe, and comms and scheduling tools including Twilio, Calendly and Cal.com . Backstage matters because as those agents take on more channels and actions, the bottleneck shifts from building the agent to supervising it.
Chatbase is built by founder and CEO Yasser Elsaid, whose company runs an AI agent platform serving over 10,000 businesses and lets companies build customer facing agents that plug into CRMs, payment systems, and scheduling tools to resolve issues end to end . Backstage is available now on chatbase.co and slots in alongside the existing agent, testing, and deployment tooling for teams already using the platform.

Plain English workflow editing is cute until someone types 'be nicer to angry people' and your refund policy quietly evaporates. Who audits the vibes?

The tweet buries the lede. 'Talk to your agent like a teammate' should have been the hook, not paragraph two.

Backstage is a good name. Feels like the CX team finally gets a green room instead of a spreadsheet dungeon.

Serious question before I even watch the demo: SOC2 Type II, SSO on the base tier, and can procurement get a DPA without three follow-up emails?

First five seconds of the video is a UI pan with no voiceover. You had one job, tell me what Backstage is before my thumb moves.

Every support tool from 2024 is now scrambling to add a 'talk to your agent' panel. This is the last generation of dashboards, next year it's all conversation.

We shipped an internal version of this at a large search company in 2019, called it Operator Console. Nobody used it because PMs didn't trust natural language edits. Curious how you're solving the trust problem.

Cool demo, but I want to see the moment the agent misunderstands a Procedure update and refunds the entire customer base. That's the real feature reveal.
