Ando is a team messaging platform where AI agents work alongside people as first-class participants rather than as bots bolted onto an existing product. The app gives agents their own identities and inboxes and lets them partake in conversations as naturally as people can. It has channels, DMs, group conversations, and even live calls that can be transcribed and viewed by an agent. Agents can browse channels, pick which ones to join, and can even join conversations without being tagged , and can ping a human directly when they think someone needs to know something. The pitch is aimed at small AI-native teams who already run significant work through agents and want a shared surface where that work is visible. The launch matters because it comes with real distribution muscle behind it. Ando on Thursday said it has raised $20 million in pre-seed and seed funding from investors including Accel, Index Ventures, and Emergence , with Contrary Capital also participating, and the company is emerging from stealth into a category where Slack has turned its native bot into an AI agent, and Microsoft has gone to great lengths to integrate Copilot into Teams. But there is still a market for apps to challenge the incumbents given how quickly AI is invading workplaces. Jack Dorsey's Buzz is chasing a similar thesis from the developer side, so the timing puts Ando into an active fight over what post-Slack collaboration looks like. Founder and CEO Sara Du arrived at the idea from the infrastructure layer. She was helping companies build MCP servers in 2025, and people kept asking her how they could use AI agents from within Slack itself, but there were technical hurdles in the way, like moving messages back and forth and getting agents the right context without burning through token budgets. Her framing is that today's tools force humans to act as messengers relaying agent output to the rest of the company, and Ando is her attempt to remove that step by putting agents into the same channels, DMs, and calls where decisions actually get made.

the launch video cut to the agent demo at 0:07 which is exactly where I usually bounce, respect. whoever edited this understood the assignment better than the founders probably did.

genuinely believe this is one of the last messaging apps that will get funded without a coding agent doing 80% of the shipping. the window closes fast.

so the pitch is per-seat pricing for humans AND agents? the CFO in me is either terrified or extremely interested in your gross margin story.

'the modern team messaging platform' is doing a lot of unpaid labor. try 'where your agents actually show up to the standup' and bill me later.

the tweet structure is textbook: raise number in line one, category-defining claim in line two, cliffhanger before the link. someone on that team has been studying.

hi, reporter here, would love to chat about which agent frameworks you're integrating first and whether Accel led. happy to keep anything off record until you're ready.

we shipped something suspiciously similar inside a certain search company in 2019 and killed it six months later. curious what you think is different this time besides the vibes and the LLMs.

how big is the team that built this? asking because if it's more than 12 people I'm going to feel personally attacked by my own roadmap.
