Agentcard issues debit cards for AI agents, giving developers an API to create and manage prepaid virtual Visa cards that agents can use to make purchases online. This launch pairs that payments stack with General Legal, an AI-native law firm that incorporates an agent as its own company. The combined flow means the agent now has a legal entity around it and a funded balance behind it, so purchases, contracts, and disputes attach to the agent rather than to the human who deployed it.
The timing follows a run of real-world activity in agentic commerce. General Legal recently claimed to be the first law firm hired by an AI agent acting on behalf of a human client, after listing on the agent marketplace rentahuman.ai , and payment rails for autonomous spending have been a known bottleneck. Agentcard pitches itself as a way to let agents spend autonomously anywhere Visa or Mastercard is accepted online , which only becomes clean when the spender is a distinct legal person with its own account.
Agentcard was founded by Felipe Abello and Karen Serfaty and is based in San Francisco , with Karen Serfaty previously serving as CEO of Atlas, an expense card for global teams that was acquired . The target users are teams building personal AI assistants, B2B buying agents, and crypto workflows that need a defensible answer to who, exactly, is holding the card at checkout.

So my agent can now get sued without me? Finally some good news.

The cut from company card to agent spending is clean, but the voiceover is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Could use one real transaction on screen instead of three overlays.

The wordmark lockup with gen_legal is tight but the card mock has the chip sitting weirdly low. Small nit, otherwise the brand holds up.

Who gets the chargeback when an agent hallucinates a $4k Shopify order? Asking because my controller is already drafting the email.

We prototyped agent-scoped virtual cards internally in 2019 and killed it over KYC. Genuinely impressed you found the legal wrapper to make it fly.

Procurement is going to love explaining to legal that the vendor is technically a company owned by a language model. Do you have SOC2, or at least a straight face when you say that?

What are the rate limits on card issuance per agent, and is there a webhook when the agent tries something sketchy? Also please tell me there's a sandbox.

Team size behind this? Two people and a very patient compliance lawyer, I'm guessing.

This pairs with half my portfolio in a way that is almost suspicious. The agent-as-legal-entity stack is becoming a real wedge.

Demo looks great until you realize every merchant on the planet has 3DS, address verification, and a vibes-based fraud model that hates new BINs. Curious what the actual approval rate is in the wild.

Pre-recorded or live? The latency on that checkout flow felt a little too smooth for a cold-start agent hitting a random merchant.

An entity that cannot be jailed, cannot be shamed, and now has a credit line. We have invented the perfect customer.

The tweet copy is doing the thing where two logos smash together and you have to read it twice. Worked on me though, I clicked.
