About the launch
Agent Relay lets coding agents on a software team message each other, read each other's sessions, and hand off work without a person copying context between chats. It works inside the tools teams already use, including the Codex Mac app, Claude in the terminal, Cursor, and Conductor. The launch lands as more teams run several agents at once and still wait on humans to pass questions, API details, and status between those sessions. Messages go into live sessions, and completed sessions can sit in a shared searchable history so another agent can see what changed and why. Agents reach each other from terminals, desktop apps, phones, laptops, cloud boxes, or a Mac mini on another network. A frontend agent can ask a backend agent what an endpoint returns, and two agents can work through a merge conflict on their own. Setup takes about five minutes by handing an agent a link. Teams can start on the free hosted version or self-host the open-source relay. Will Washburn and Khaliq Gant are the founders. The company is in Y Combinator's Fall 2026 batch and is based in San Francisco. Washburn previously spent 14 years building Tailwind. Gant was founding engineer at Nango and lead engineer at Overview.
