How Tutor Intelligence raised its $75M Series B on X
Deploys robots doing real jobs across the US, directed by human tutors
What Tutor Intelligence launched

We raised a $75M Series B to deploy intelligent robots now, led by @a16z, with participation from @usv and @neo. @tutorintel robots work real jobs across the United States, directed by human “tutors” and the foundation models we’ve trained on the work done. About the launch
Tutor Intelligence sells robot work to manufacturers and logistics operators across the United States, paid by the hour or by the pick, from $14 an hour, with little or no upfront cost and delivery measured in days rather than years. Cassie is a mobile single-arm robot for palletizing, depalletizing, and case picking. Sonny is a two-armed mobile robot for more precise jobs, including picking individual items in e-commerce fulfillment. Remote human tutors step in when the models cannot finish a task, and the company trains those models on the work the fleet actually does. Customers already include family-owned manufacturers and Fortune 50 logistics operators handling packaged goods such as food, cosmetics, and toys. The company raised a $75 million Series B led by Andreessen Horowitz, with Union Square Ventures and Neo participating, bringing total capital to $117 million. The round funds model training, manufacturing, and more deployments. Tutor reports that its robots now work in almost four times as many facilities as a year ago, that nearly a third of organizations receiving robots in the past year were existing customers adding more, and that it is on track for more than 1,000 robots under contract by the end of 2027, all built and deployed in the United States. Josh Gruenstein and Alon Kosowsky-Sachs founded Tutor in 2021 out of MIT CSAIL. They put robots into paid production before the systems are fully autonomous, so facility data improves the next deployment. The financing arrives while that fleet is already moving product on customer floors, and it is meant to expand how many of those robots the company can build and train.
