Sesame 's October update turns its voice assistants Maya, Miles, Charlie, and Simone into agents that each operate their own computer, available in the iOS and Android apps for anyone who wants a hands-free way to delegate real work. Users can speak to them, ask them to plan a trip, explore a personal project or research a hobby, then receive an update when the work is ready , and the assistants can use tools, coordinate other agents and connect to everyday services, beginning with several Google apps , with support for user-attached MCPs.
The release also ships an updated voice model. An updated Conversational Speech Model brings more expressive speech and clearer pronunciation, particularly in long conversations , and the company has reduced sycophancy and repetitive phrasing so its characters can challenge users instead of reflexively agreeing . Internally, Sesame used Maya, Miles, Charlie and Simone to develop the release and orchestrate agents including Devin, Claude Code and Codex by voice while walking, commuting or working at a desk , which hints at where the product is heading for power users.
The launch matters now because the voice assistant is positioned as the operating layer for Sesame's planned smart glasses, with frames slated for 2027 and the app serving as the public proving ground until then. The company was founded in 2023 by former Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe along with Ankit Kumar and Ryan Brown, and the October announcement is explained in a conversation between Maya and Nate Mitchell, the Oculus co-founder who joined Sesame in 2025 as Chief Product Officer to lead hardware design , who is also hosting a Reddit AMA alongside members of the engineering and design teams.

Maya explaining Maya is peak recursion. I kept waiting for her to glance at the camera and ask if she's real.

An agent with its own computer is wild framing. So we're giving the voice assistant a laptop and a Slack handle now?

I'll believe the 'own computer' thing when I see an agent accidentally install a sketchy Chrome extension and get phished like the rest of us.

The cut at 00:14 where Nate takes over mid-sentence is clean, but the first 3 seconds need a hook. You buried the thesis under polite smalltalk.

Hot take: giving each agent its own VM is the only sane way to do this, everyone else is cosplay. Curious how you handle session state across tool calls.

Where are the docs for the agent-computer handoff? I need to know rate limits before I let this thing anywhere near my inbox.

Is the demo live or did Maya get a few takes? Asking because every voice demo I've seen this year has been a sizzle reel in a trench coat.

Tagline rewrite, no charge: 'Voice agents that actually get work done, because they have a desk.' You can venmo me later.

ok wait, the fact that Maya narrates her own changelog is kind of a flex. Every other company sends a blog post nobody reads.

Agents with their own computers means agents with their own wallets eventually. Someone's cooking a token here whether they admit it or not.

Shipped something similar at Meta in 2019 called 'AgentDesk', it got killed in review. Glad someone finally did it outside of a deck.

The thumbnail with Nate off-center and Maya's waveform behind him is doing a lot of work. Whoever picked that frame deserves lunch.

A voice is a face you can't look away from. Sesame knows this.
