rabbit OS3 is an agentic operating system from rabbit inc. that runs in the cloud and drives a user's own machines through a small local program called the rabbit agent. Built around a single chat interface as its primary entry point, a user states an outcome, and the system works out the rest by reasoning with connected AI models and whatever else the task calls for: the web, services already in use, or connected devices. One account can be connected to up to five devices, and OS3 determines where each task runs, on a single device or across several, moving work between them as the task requires along with pulling any needed files, applications, and skills. It is aimed at people who already juggle multiple agents, computers, and workflows and want one persistent conversation to run them from. The launch matters because rabbit is extending its agent stack well beyond the r1 handheld it shipped in 2024. OS3 is open at every layer that matters: the model it runs on, the skills it can use, and the devices it can reach. Users can power OS3 interchangeably with API keys from the latest models of frontier AI labs, cloud router platforms or locally hosted models, and swap models without affecting context, memory, or skills. Every skill published anywhere can be added by copying its URL into the chat, without command line prompts or additional configuration files. Using rabbit's DLAM technology together with the local agent, OS3 can operate desktop software, local files, and web pages directly on a user's behalf, in addition to writing, debugging, and running software workflows autonomously. Users reach it through the web portal on desktop or mobile, a paired Telegram, iMessage/RCS/SMS, or with rabbit's r1 , and the demo walks through brain-dumped tasks like deep research reports, HTML dashboards, PDF handbooks, and scheduled background jobs handled in parallel. rabbit inc. was founded by two-time Y Combinator alumnus Jesse Lyu (formerly of Raven Tech) , and Lyu frames OS3 as the culmination of roughly two and a half years of work toward a system users describe outcomes to rather than operate directly. Any device running the local rabbit agent can be controlled by OS3, including Windows, Mac, or Linux PCs, cloud VMs, dedicated AI machines, and the r1, with more device types to follow. rabbit's upcoming cyberdeck will also ship with OS3 as its default operating system , which positions this release as the software layer the company plans to build its next hardware around.

the kerning on that OS3 wordmark is doing more heavy lifting than the actual product demo. whoever art directed the reveal deserves a raise, whoever wrote 'main character energy' deserves a stern email.

an operating system i don't operate sounds a lot like the laptop i owned in college that also refused to cooperate. congrats on the rebrand of learned helplessness.

watched the video twice. the first 8 seconds are all vibes and no verbs, which is a bold retention choice when you're asking people to trust an OS to run their life.

so we're back to hardware companies dropping OS updates like it's a sneaker release. i'll allow it but only because the color grade slaps.

first-tap UX is the whole ballgame for an ambient OS. if i have to tap three times to not tap, we've invented a worse phone.

genuinely curious how many engineers shipped this. if it's under 15 i'm framing the org chart on my wall.

the tweet copy is four words and one of them is a meme. respect the discipline, most launches would've stuffed a manifesto in there.
