PostHog's self-driving mode turns signals in your product data (errors, rage clicks, failed queries, and more) into researched reports and pull requests you review and merge. The launch flips the usual coding-agent workflow: instead of a developer prompting an assistant, background agents PostHog calls "scouts" watch product telemetry and open the PR themselves. It's aimed at engineering teams already using PostHog for analytics, session replay, error tracking, and experiments, who now get an active remediation layer on top of that same data.
The scouts continuously analyze product data from connected tools and PostHog apps, and surface problems as reports in a centralized PostHog Inbox, where issues are clustered and ranked by priority. Each report ends in a draft pull request generated in a sandbox environment, which developers can review and merge if approved, or reject outright. PostHog positions this as a middle ground between fully autonomous code changes and purely diagnostic tools that stop at identifying problems. Teams can drive it from the web app, from Slack, or through the Model Context Protocol for custom workflows and integration with other AI tools.
The timing matters because coding agents are converging on the same question of where the human sits in the loop, and PostHog is betting the answer runs through product data rather than developer prompts. The company was founded in January 2020 by James Hawkins and Tim Glaser, and went through Y Combinator's Winter 2020 batch , and the self-driving beta is available today by running the PostHog setup wizard from the terminal.

The horror-movie framing for a session replay tool is genuinely unhinged and I mean that as a compliment. Whoever cut this deserves the rest of the week off.

That first-frame hook with the cursor lingering was chef's kiss. Cut on the beat, no wasted seconds, this is how you launch a product tweet.

Self-driving mode is a bold pitch when half the dashboards I've seen this year can't parallel park. What's actually automated here versus surfaced as a suggestion?

Following up on my DM from last week, happy to hold anything until Thursday if there's more to share on how the agent was trained. Great tease either way.

Cool cool cool but does the agent hit webhooks on anomaly detection or do I have to poll like it's 2014? Also please tell me there's a rate limit story.

Genuinely the last major dev tool launch that isn't just three MCP servers in a trench coat. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Interesting. Curious how retention looks once teams realize the agent recommends the same three fixes every sprint.

Product lead brain activated: one more thing, let the agent draft the PR that fixes the funnel drop it just found. You're 80% there already.

Before my security team lets this near prod I need SSO, SOC2 Type 2, and a very boring data residency page. Send links, not vibes.

Reminds me of what Warp tried with the terminal and what Linear did for issues. If the defaults are opinionated enough, this is the shape of the category for the next three years.

Watching sessions onchain when? Imagine the replay is a signed attestation. I'll see myself out.
