How Navier AI launched Prism on X
Agents design CAD, run simulations and write reports from a plain description
What Navier AI launched

Today, we’re excited to launch Prism into General Availability. Prism is the AI platform for hardware engineering. Describe what you want to build, and agents design the CAD, run the simulations, and write the report. Free to get started for Windows, Mac and Linux 🧵 https://t.co/fVubcdLget

About the launch
Navier AI has released Prism into general availability, a desktop platform for hardware engineers. From a written description of a part, its loads, and its constraints, agents build CAD that can be opened, edited, and exported, set up and run the simulations, and write the results as a PDF or slide deck in the team's own template. Hardware products still move through a manual loop of design, simulation, and validation, and this release puts that loop in one local app. Prism is free to get started on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Prism is a native application you install. Navier also offers a hosted CFD workspace in the browser. In Prism, geometry, meshes, cases, and results stay on local disk, and the agent works in the same project folder, with review available before each step. The app includes Ferro, Navier's GPU-native structural solver, and can install other solvers such as OpenFOAM, CalculiX, SU2, code_aster, and Elmer for structures, fluids, thermal, multibody, and electromagnetics work. In the launch walkthrough, agents build a liquid-cooled assembly for a drone, run a heat-transfer case in OpenFOAM and a vibration check in CalculiX, flag features that would be hard or expensive to make, and can start many cases at once or keep optimizing toward an objective. Scripts, meshes, and solver inputs remain files the engineer can inspect. Prism comes from Navier AI in San Francisco, a Y Combinator Winter 2024 company. CEO Cameron Flannery previously built Starlink avionics at SpaceX, worked on self-driving trucks at Aurora, and led vehicle engineering on hydrofoiling boats. COO Evan Kay developed propulsion for SpaceX's Raptor 1 and 2 rocket engines and worked on metal additive manufacturing at General Atomics.
