Merge for Workforce is a control layer that sits between employees and the AI assistants they already use, including Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor. Admins sync their org through SCIM, define a routing policy per team or role, and Merge pushes those rules down to every machine, overriding the model configuration inside each connected tool so tasks stop defaulting to the most expensive frontier model available. The pitch to buyers is direct: match the model to the work, keep quality high on tasks that need it, and stop paying premium token rates on the ones that do not.
The launch matters because AI usage inside companies has outpaced the controls IT and security teams have to govern it. Merge Agent Handler for Employees helps organizations govern how employees connect AI tools to company systems, providing SCIM-based provisioning, Tool Packs for fine-grained connector and tool access, DLP scanning, and searchable audit logs. Merge for Workforce extends that same identity-driven approach to model selection itself, letting a security or platform team decide, at the role level, which employees can reach which models and under what conditions. Define which AI models each employee can access based on their role, team, and work authorization status, and keep rules current as attributes change.
The launch comes from Merge, founded in 2020 by Shensi Ding and Gil Feig and better known until recently for its unified API for HR, payroll, ticketing, and CRM integrations. The platform now offers two core products: Merge Unified, which enables businesses to add hundreds of integrations to their products with a single API, and Merge Agent Handler, which serves agentic tooling for frontier LLMs, Fortune 500 organizations, and B2B SaaS companies. Workforce is the internal-facing companion to that stack, aimed at operators who want a single place to govern how their people spend on AI.

ok wait, one-click cost reduction across a whole workforce is a bold claim. What's the honest failure mode when the router picks the cheaper model and the output is trash?

Would love to chat for a piece I'm working on about enterprise LLM cost management. Any chance you can share which customer segments are seeing the steepest drops?

The launch video pacing was tight but that voiceover sounds like it was recorded inside a Tesla at 70mph. Get this man a Shure SM7B.

hot take: this is the last workforce AI tool that ships without an agent layer. Give it 6 months before every request routes through something that calls itself autonomous.

employees using Opus to write 'thanks, will do' emails is the villain arc nobody talks about. glad someone finally built the intervention.

Nice launch, but the tweet buries the actual product under the hook. First three replies are people asking what Merge for Workforce even does, that's a copy problem.

one more thing for the roadmap: per-team budget dashboards with slack alerts when someone burns through their quota writing haikus in GPT-5.
