About the launch
Machine Age lets robotics teams pay skilled businesses to record how experienced people do real tasks, and to use that footage as training data for robots. The businesses operate in the UK, the US, and China, and already repair, diagnose, test, and calibrate equipment, work that has rarely been captured for machines to learn from. Founder Chris Worsey is opening the marketplace after building that network in stealth with robotics companies. A buyer searches for a skill, posts a task brief, and commissions the recording, including what an expert does when something goes wrong. Machine Age vets the businesses and supplies the cameras, and says footage is collected with consent and clear rights to each hour. The company is also developing its own capture hardware for vision, motion, and hand interaction, and runs data pilots for robotics companies, frontier model teams, and enterprise teams that need demonstrations from real workplaces. The company is operated by General Intelligence Holdings. In a plan published with the launch, Worsey describes using marketplace revenue to acquire skilled businesses, starting in the US, and then deploying robots next to the people who recorded the work, so each deployment can produce more data for the next task. The company describes those acquisitions and deployments as later stages, not part of this opening.
