Enveda Biotherapeutics is a Boulder, Colorado biotech using artificial intelligence to identify molecules in living organisms like plants and microbes, predict their structure and function, and rank them by drug potential before its chemists turn the most promising into drug candidates. The premise, as the launch tweet frames it, is that molecules evolution has already refined are a better starting point than ones designed from scratch, and the company is now announcing a $311M Series E to push that thesis deeper into the clinic.
The round was led by Catalio Capital Management and includes 16 other backers, among them Surveyor Capital, T. Rowe Price, Lux Capital and a sovereign wealth fund, on top of more than $530 million in prior venture backing including a $150 million Series D earlier in 2025. The timing follows real clinical readouts rather than just platform claims. Enveda revealed Phase 1 data this year from a pair of AI-designed programs for atopic dermatitis and obesity, one of which, ENV-294, is a molecular glue that showed potential to reduce eczema symptoms in a small, early clinical trial.
The company was founded in 2019 by Viswa Colluru, who has said Enveda is already evaluating 17 programs to emerge from its research, arguing that first-in-class mechanisms are what move the needle for patients and drive returns . For founders, investors, and operators tracking AI-native drug discovery, this launch is a useful data point on what happens when a natural-products platform actually produces clinical assets, and how much capital the market is willing to put behind that shift.

The pivot from 'AI drug discovery' branding to 'evolution already did the work' is actually a smart wedge. Everyone else is screaming transformers at proteins.

Two first-in-class molecules is the flex, the raise is the footnote. Whoever wrote this tweet knew the assignment.

Curious what the actual throughput looks like from plant extract to lead candidate. The tweet skips the boring middle where most of these companies quietly die.

Video pacing is way too calm for a Series E announcement. Needed at least one dramatic pipette shot to justify the runtime.

Plants have been running R&D for 400 million years with zero IND filings. Respect the incumbents.

Every biotech deck since 2015 has claimed 'bringing pharma into the 21st century' and yet here we are, still in the 21st century, still waiting.

Been tracking natural-product rediscovery since the pharmacognosy days and it's wild seeing it dressed up in ML clothes. Same soup, better bowl.

Naive question but if evolution already refined the molecule, what does Enveda actually add? Serious ask, not a dunk.

Enveda adds the industrialization: mass spec at scale, deconvolution, dereplication, and turning a messy extract into a tractable single molecule. That's the unsexy moat.

The thumbnail with the leaf and the molecule overlay is doing 40% of the fundraising work here. Whoever designed it deserves options.

I'm 3 weeks out from launching my own thing and reading this tweet made me want to rewrite my entire landing page. The thesis sentence is doing a lot.
