About the launch
dub is launching Arlo, an AI assistant inside its copy-trading app, for retail investors who follow named creators and mirror their trades. Users can ask about their own account, any portfolio on dub, or a market theme, and members who have completed a suitability profile can receive portfolio suggestions from dub Advisors, an SEC-registered investment adviser. The company is making Arlo available to existing users at no additional cost. In the launch post, founder and CEO Steven Wang argued that most financial advisors will not take a client without about $250,000 in liquid assets, and presented Arlo as dub's way to extend investment recommendations to customers below that threshold. Those suggestions are ranked Premium portfolios already on dub, screened against the user's risk profile, with the reasoning shown beside each one. Premium portfolios can carry an asset-based management fee, disclosed on the portfolio. Arlo can also walk through concentration, allocation, and performance in the user's own holdings, break down a creator's track record and metrics such as Alpha Score and max drawdown, research a stock or theme, and turn an idea into a draft portfolio the user edits before investing. It does not place trades, rebalance, or move money. Portfolio calculations run on dub's own deterministic models, and any investment advice delivered through Arlo comes from dub Advisors and is limited to portfolios on the platform. The company says answers can be wrong, and Arlo does not forecast prices or give tax, legal, or planning advice. Wang, a Harvard dropout who previously worked at Apple and sold a VR startup called Realism, built dub in New York so everyday investors could copy real-time strategies through a regulated brokerage account. The company reports nearly 2 million downloads, roughly 900,000 signups, and more than $2 billion in trades. Copy trading was the original product. Arlo adds a conversation about the user's own holdings and goals in the same app, with advisory suggestions issued by dub Advisors.
