How Confetti launched an AI platform for designing hardware on X
Design and build hardware from plain English descriptions into 3D parts
What Confetti launched

Introducing Confetti, a platform that helps you design and build hardware with plain English. Here’s how: - explain your idea at https://t.co/hnSrGVVQj6 - that’s it. Confetti is the first AI platform for vibe-manufacturing which lets anybody go from idea to 3D design to parts https://t.co/kRf7rA0EU3

About the launch
Confetti, founded in 2026 in San Francisco and part of Y Combinator's Fall 2026 batch, lets anyone describe a hardware project in plain English and get back a 3D design, the parts it needs, and a way to order printed parts and electronics. This public launch opens that product for people who would otherwise have to learn CAD, check whether components fit, source compatible parts, and write firmware before a first prototype exists. You can start from scratch or remix a project other makers have already shared. After you explain the idea, Confetti asks a few questions, shows design options, and builds the one you pick, with a view of the parts and how they fit together. Edits stay in the same conversation. The launch video adds a camera to a small device and shows the updated model. You can then order the electronic components, choose a material and color for the enclosure, request manufacturing quotes, and send supported 3D printing jobs to print farms so the printed parts arrive at your door. The session also helps with wiring, assembly, debugging, and the firmware or software required to run the project. A design can begin from text, from an image, or from a community project you personalize. CEO Tianyi Evans Gu and chief product officer Lucas Yuan started Confetti after questions about connectors, case fit, and where to buy compatible parts stalled a home AI device they were prototyping. Gu previously studied computer science and math at the University of Pennsylvania, and Yuan studied computer science there. The company says people are already using Confetti for a portable dynamic mechanical analyzer in a physics lab, a custom keyboard, desk companions, and personalized gifts.
