About the launch
Street is a secondary market for private company securities, built to bring companies, existing shareholders, and investors together for sales that require company approval. Buyers are meant to hold company equity directly, with rights defined by the share terms, instead of an interest in a special purpose vehicle. This launch opens private access to the brokerage for selected funds and family offices, starting with the top of the waitlist, on the stated thesis that buying a private share should take seconds rather than a multi-week manual process. For companies, Street is a way to plan a liquidity window before an IPO. The company sets the window, the share class, who can sell, and a price floor, and board approval stays in the process. A secondary sale transfers existing shares and does not require a new financing round. For investors, the platform is initially intended for accredited investors in the United States. They can review company and share documents, register a non-binding indication of interest, and, when an approved opportunity is available, see quantity, limit price, and fees before submitting. After a completed transfer, holdings are meant to appear as book-entry shares in Mimir, the ownership record maintained by Street Labs, Inc., which is registered with the SEC as a transfer agent. Lukas Gruber, founder and CEO, is opening the brokerage on a rolling basis as Street comes out of stealth, with a stated plan to admit more of the waitlist from November 3. An account or an indication of interest does not guarantee a listing, an allocation, or a price. Private company shares can stay illiquid for a long time, and a resale still depends on company consent, transfer restrictions, and buyer demand.
