How Bedrock Robotics raised its $600M Series C on X
Autonomous machines for construction job sites across the United States
What Bedrock Robotics launched

Today we’re announcing a $600M Series C, co-led by @CapitalG and @emergencecap, to bring fully autonomous machines to more job sites across the U.S. We want autonomous equipment to become beautifully unremarkable, as ordinary on a job site as GPS or grade control. https://t.co/KHmKcw43EW

About the launch
Bedrock Robotics sells a retrofit kit, called the Bedrock Operator, that adds sensors, compute, and autonomy software to excavators U. S. contractors already own. The machines are built to operate on a live job site with no one at the controls. The company is raising now because that system only began paid commercial work in mid-August 2026, and this Series C is the capital to carry it onto more U. S. job sites. Bedrock says it takes five years or more to master an excavator, and the Associated Builders and Contractors estimates that more than 40% of construction workers will retire within five years. Those first paid deployments include a Nevada water treatment facility, an earthwork project run by Champion Site Prep in Texas, and a civil sitework job of 1.2 million cubic yards with Zachry Construction. The company said the same day that six customers now have deployments underway. The $600 million Series C, co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital, values the San Francisco company at $4.1 billion and brings total funding since its 2024 founding to nearly $1 billion. Bedrock plans to use the round to deploy the technology on more sites and to expand the field teams and infrastructure that support customers once the machines are in use. Excavators were the starting machine because they make up about a quarter of a typical fleet and are among the hardest on site to run. Boris Sofman, Kevin Peterson, Ajay Gummalla, and Tom Eliaz founded the company in 2024. Sofman, the CEO, previously led Waymo’s trucking program and co-founded Anki. Peterson, the CTO, and Gummalla, a VP of engineering, also came from Waymo, and Eliaz, a co-founder and VP of engineering, previously worked at Segment and Twilio. Two years on, the company is pointing to complicated work already run safely on a customer site, at a quality the customer can use, and using this financing to get that capability in front of more contractors.
